Accomplishments:
General Management:
1. As Director of Agribusiness Development, I pioneered the export of winter veg
etables to Canada, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and the U.K. by developing
a contract based production system of 400 specialized small farmers.
2. As Business Development Manager of Caribbean Cellular Limited ( a subsidiary
of Cable & Wireless), I started up land and marine cellular service in The Briti
sh Virgin Islands, Jamaica and French St. Martin through joint ventures over a
four year period.
3. As Executive /Finance Director of the Venice Housing Authority, I increased t
he occupancy rate in public housing from 66 % to 94 % within two years and obtai
ned a $ 12 million LIHTC award for new affordable housing construction while jug
gling normal operating demands and a recovery program after the damage caused by
Hurricane Charlie.
Accounting/Finance:
1. Conducted financial and special audits in North New Jersey on behalf of Touch
e Ross (now Deloitte Touche) during my two year tenure.
2. During eight years with Johnson & Johnson, I rose from International Internal
Auditor to Regional Finance Manager (Latin America & the Caribbean) to Financia
l Director of a $ 40 million manufacturing and marketing affiliate in Trinidad &
Tobago.
3. Owned and operated an accounting business in Ocala, Florida, specializing in
small businesses and non-profit entities.
4. As Financial Director of the Fort Myers Housing Authority, I guided the organ
ization from the HUD classification of "troubled" to "good performer" during my
three year tenure. And, at the same time, directed the operations of the Authori
ty's market rate rental properties.
5. During a three year contract assignment at the Housing Authority of New Orlea
ns (annual budget of $ 250 million), I directed the reorganization of all accoun
ting and reporting functions and participated in the financial planning for the
development of replacement housing ( $ 1.2 billion) in the wake of Hurricane Ka
trina.
