2008 - 2010
Cleveland Clinic's HVI has been ranked number one in the country
for the past fifteen consecutive years by U.S. News and World
Reports.
Heart and Vascular Institute Liaison Project Manager
Sole information technology liaison between the Heart and
Vascular Institute (HVI) and the Cleveland Clinic's Information
Technology Division (ITD). Responsibilities include
consolidating HVI requirements to ensure they are coordinated
with the Cleveland Clinic's ITD. Provided direction to ITD
project managers to ensure timely completion of projects as well
as adherence to customer requirements.
* Deployed voice recognition technology to lessen the need for
transcriptionists.
* Initiated the idea of clinical standardized documentation,
which is now considered the HVI chairman's number one priority.
o CIO directed that all application changes resulting from the
pilot be directed to the vendor for modification of their
application.
o Intent is for other Cleveland Clinic institutes to use this
method.
* Provided guidance on meeting business continuity and disaster
recovery needs for HVI's core systems as well as aligning
internal HVI IT support with that of ITD.
* Coordinated a more efficient means to provide immediate
technical support to the sixteen operating room suites and 110+
intensive care unit beds.
* Created the first clinical documentation steering committee and
its charter.
* Scheduled training and implementation of Dragon speech
recognition software for all surgeons and cardiologists.
* Led the selection team for new perfusion pumps to be used in
operating rooms, a $2M+ project.
Rutland Regional Medical Center, Rutland, VT
2004 - 2008
Rutland Regional Medical Center is the second largest hospital in
Vermont. The staff of RRMC encompasses 1200+ employees and works
closely with nearly forty physician offices.
Clinical Applications Manager
Professionally managed projects involving clinical applications
leading to the future development of an EHR.
* Project manager for critical applications implemented included
a new pharmacy system (McKesson's Horizon MedsManager and
medication fax imaging solution.
* Served as a board member for the Vermont Information Technology
Leaders (VITL) to develop a statewide health information exchange
(HIE) as charged by the Vermont Legislature.
* Participated in the development of Vermont's HIE strategic plan
which was approved by the Vermont legislature.
* Led Project team for selecting a new electronic health record
system.
* Developed application communications flow diagram for all major
clinical systems.
Andrews AFB, MD
2003 - 2004
The MGMC included approximately 1500 staff, a complex local area
network that included teleradiology and other bandwidth-intense
and patient care time critical applications.
Chief Information Officer
* Successfully led the monumental effort of converging past MGMC
network with that of the Andrews AFB network.
* Reorganized operations within staff of 50 IT professionals
after having realized 12% required reduction in IT staff.
* Initiated first Department of Defense-wide effort to
consolidate servers in Washington D.C. with servers from two
other major military medical centers (Walter Reed Army Medical
Center and Bethesda Naval Medical Center).
Air Education and Training Command (AETC) Medical Services
(USAF), San Antonio, TX
2000 - 2003
Command headquarters for all USAF education and training
initiatives. This command oversaw fourteen other bases.
Chief Information Officer
Served as the regional CIO by providing mentorship and guidance
to all CIOs at the various command base hospitals and training
facilities. Ensured that direction from USAF and AETC
headquarters were strictly followed at these thirteen base
locations.
* Transformed IT help desk and financial resource requests by
proper resource planning of needs of the thirteen Air Force
healthcare facilities, two of which are the largest medical
centers in the Air Force.
* Management skills included continuously reviewing the
streamlined operations of approximately 300 IT FTEs at all
locations.
* Upgraded operating efficiency of all regional network
infrastructure equipment and bandwidth to prepare for Department
of Defense's new EHR and PACS.
* Served as the lead point of contact for Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) preparations.
