Planned, designed, and implemented the organization's data center and storage in
frastructure while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability.
* Managed build of $2,500,000 fully redundant, scalable, data center to support
multiple business units and relocated existing infrastructure to the new site.
The data center is capable of operation independent of public utilities, equipp
ed with redundant Power Distribution Units, UPS systems and megawatt generators
. Installed N+1 environmental conditioning units capable of operating with publi
c utility.
* Implemented a $5,000,000 fully redundant Enterprise Storage solution to suppo
rt multiple data warehouses and critical business applications using both asynch
ronous hardware and software replication techniques. Implemented mirrored disk
based backup solution including deduplicaiton to reduce backup window, reduce re
covery time, provide resources for the redundant internal disaster recovery solu
tion.
* Managed the relocation to new data center including change control processes,
space layout, physical move and technical resources. Developed RFP and contra
cted the selected maintenance company to deinstall and reinstall servers, SANs,
racks and miscellaneous peripheral equipment. Managed the cabling company to in
stall 1200 CAT6 work station drops, CAT6a server drops and fiber infrastructure
to support the Master (MDF) and Intermediate distribution facilities (IDF).
* Developed and implemented a virtualization and storage strategy to avoid an e
stimated $2,000,000 corporate data center expansion. Reduced the physical server
count by 300 while supporting the disaster recovery initiative and providing in
creased resources for development and testing. .
* Installed mirrored Clariion CX4-480 SANs in NJ and Charlotte for critical dat
a storage. Utilized Cisco 9509 director class SAN switches. Used Mirrorview for
disk based replication and Replistore for host based replication at remote sites
.
* Responsible for capacity planning, backup and restore process design, perform
ance analysis and developing data disaster recovery plans. Conducted research a
nd communicated plans on emerging technologies, services, protocols, and standar
