JOHNSON
SUPERINTENDENT
As Superintendent for Total Site Solutions, Mr. Johnson is the on-site manager f
or construction projects. He manages the work of subcontractors and acts as the
liaison for TSS with its customers.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Switch and Data Mr. Johnson is currently Superintendent responsible for managi
ng the electrical, fire alarm, BMS and security systems portion of this $32 mill
ion project. Switch and Data is converting one and a half floors of a former ret
ail space into a data center. The electrical work includes a medium voltage serv
ice, generators and paralleling gear, distribution gear and a UPS system.
DBT Blue Ridge Data Center Mr. Johnson performed as the Superintendent respons
ible for managing the electrical, fire alarm and security systems portion of thi
s $23 million project. The DBT project converted a 13 acre, 100,000 square foot
industrial site into a data center site. The electrical work included building
a new medium voltage electrical service from a dedicated dual feed 26 mega watt
substation. Backup power included six 2.5 meg generators, paralleling gear, and
transfer switches. Electrical included new distribution gear and a UPS system as
well as the core building electrical system.
U.S. Customs-Amdex Mr. Johnson performed as Superintendent for this $10 millio
n project. TSS constructed NDC1 Phase 2 Data Center Upgrade for Amdexs client,
U.S. Customs. TSS services for this upgrade include Construction Management, C
onstruction Administration, and long-lead purchasing activities. The design and
build of this facility included 10,000 square feet of data center and 10,000 squ
are feet of mechanical and electrical space including a new electrical service.
Smithsonian Institution Mr. Johnson performed as Electrical Foreman for this $
1 million project. The design and build of this facility consisted of approx
imately 28,000 square feet of office space and nearly 20,000 square feet of Data
Center. Beginning with a facility analysis, TSS/Vortech performed a physical in
ventory of all Electrical, Mechanical, Security, and Network Infrastructure comp
onents. This assessment led to a design-build renovation. TSS/Vortech performed
a complete electrical renovation, from general purpose power requirements for of
fice areas to critical power and control requirements for Data Center applicatio
ns. Also, TSS/Vortech installed all security pathways including backbone trough
and branch conduits for devices throughout the facility.
ATPCO Mr. Johnson performed as Electrical Foreman and General Superintendent f
or this project. TSS/Vortech was contracted to perform Design/Build Services fo
r the installation of a new UPS system and diesel generator. The data center up
grade project was performed on an up and running data center and therefore requi
red work sequencing to achieve the project objective. Mr. Johnson provided day-t
o-day management of all project activities, ensuring that project deliverables w
ere completed according to the agreed upon schedule.
TSS In 2007 Mr. Johnson transitioned from electrician to construction manager.

CTS / Vortech / TSS Mr. Johnson came to the CTS/Vortech/TSS group in 2003 as a
n electrician. Work experience consisted of electrical work on cooling systems,
UPS systems, fire alarm systems, data centers and small tenant projects. I was
the lead man or foreman on projects when the size of the project required such.
Responsibilities included planning the work, ordering tools and materials, assig
ning tasks to the work force, and coordinating the project with the customer.
Electrical General Corp. Mr. Johnson began work in the electrical field in 198
5 as an apprentice for EGC. During the time there I went from apprentice to mech
anic to master electrician. Through the years work experience consisted of appr
oximately 6 years of new construction ranging from small tenant work to large co
mmercial properties, 3 years of running a service truck, 3 years of installing f
ire alarm systems. The last six years at EGC were spent as the purchasing manage
r. The position required working with foremen and project managers to assess the
material needs for the project. Materials were then located and priced to provi
de the best value for the company. Purchases were typically $4 to $6 million ann
ually.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Mr. Johnson has completed 30 credits of coursework at the University of Kentucky
. I received a Maryland State Master Electrician License in 1984 and a Virginia
State Master Electrician License in 1985.
