Dear Friend,

As you may already know, the 30-Hour Famine is back! As such, we would love to invite
you to support this impactful global movement against hunger, poverty and injustice. The
focus of this year’s Famine is on one of the most pressing global issues today: Child Health.

Around the world, over 24,000 children die every day before their 5th birthday from conditions and
diseases that are easily preventable – malaria, HIV and AIDS, pneumonia, diarrhoea, measles, and
complications during pregnancy and after birth. Through the Famine, campers will learn about how we
can all be part of the solution to end preventable, health-related child deaths plaguing vulnerable
communities worldwide. As a Famine volunteer, YOU are an important piece of the puzzle!

To make the Countdown event a success, we need approximately 700 volunteers.

Official Famine Weekend | 6-7 Aug 2011 (Saturday to Sunday)

Camp leaders will run 26-hour DIY Famine Camps nationwide, at any location of their
choice.
