is actually dancing and enjoying himself for free, and at the same
time you 're not a geek who's missing out on all of the fun. I've done
this beforc.it was stupid. The next day people asked me, "Hey, Jay,
were you at the dance last night?"
I would reply, "Not necessarily. I might have, but that doesn't
necessarily mean I wasn't." They would just give me a weird look
and walk away.
Drunk! Yes, people do eventually show up...drunk. Think about
it You're at a party that started at 8 p.m., you get drunk by 9 p.m.,
then you get busted at 10 p.m.. Gee, where will you go now? You
could go to another party, right? Right! By then, however, you're
too drunk to figure that out. So, you notice'the flyers that read,
"Dance Tonight At The Student Union" and you go there! After
about 15 minutes you pass out and leave, so the next 50 people who
get busted can come in, pass out, and leave. Interesting cycle.
Solutions: Charge money for the dance. The "cool" human ego is
less motivated to go somewhere if it's easy to get there. Make it a
challenge, charge them. Have them milk a couple of cows while
you're at it -
I Better yet, bust the parties at 8 p.m. instead! The drunk cycle will
go on for hours...if people are even drunk yet. This, of course, is
assuming they don't get drunk until around 9 p.m. If I'm way off on
this assumption, then I refuse to hear the truth.
Worry not I'm not going to forget the morons who stay at these
dances the entire time, inside, by the dance floor, and sitting down!
GET7A F R E A K I N G L I F E ! 5
Why in the hell do you do that? What kind of boring self-centered
idiots are you? God forbid you actually dance! The whole point of
the dance is to dance. The whole point of sitting down and congre-
gating is school. Don't you get enough of that in class? I understand
that most of the DJ's seem to have all of the current h i Is... from 1987, \
