Multipurpose Reagents Page 18

HUMAN’s multipurpose clinical chemistry assays for
manual and automated testing use a variety of tech-
nologies for detection and quantitation. The assay
range comprises enzymes, substrates/metabolites,
proteins, electrolytes and trace elements with high
precision and long stability.
Calibrators and controls with defined values and
ranges are available.
Complete kits contain the reagents as well as the nec-
essary calibrators/standards, whereas Reagent kits
contain just the reagents.
Autocal can be used for calibration of the enzymatic
assays on clinical chemistry analyzers ranging from
the semi-automated HumaLyzer to the automated
HumaStar series.

ments suitable for entry-level to medium throughput
automation. All automated analyzers are optimized
for use with HUMAN reagents. Reagent refrigeration
and continuous loading on the advanced analyzers
ensure efficient operation. Applications for HUMAN
HumaStar 80 multipurpose and most immunoturbidimetric
reagents are preprogrammed on the instruments.

HUMAN is providing laboratories with integrated testing solutions
for Hemostasis offering Hemostat reagents and HumaClot analyzers,
both semi-automated and fully automated, to support the economic
and accurate assessment of clotting or fibrinolytic parameters.
HUMAN offers a broad range of commonly performed screening
parameters for diagnostic testing of blood disorders related to coagula-
tion and fibrinolysis. The assays are being performed to determine the
risk of prolonged or excessive bleeding following surgery, childbirth or
to determine the risk of a potential thrombotic event. The offer covers
liquid and lyophilized reagents for the determination of prothrombin
time (PT), thereby investigating the extrinsic pathway and supports the
monitoring of patients undergoing oral anticoagulant therapy. HUMAN
also provides reagents for the determination of activated partial throm-
boplastin time (aPTT) a general screening test of the intrinsic pathway
(Factors: XII, XI, X, IX, VIII, V, II, I) and thrombin time (TT) for the basic
screening profile using citrated human plasma. The offered fibrinogen
reagent is a functional assay intended for the quantitative determi-
nation of fibrin clot formation (Clauss Method) in human plasma to
identify fibrinogen defects. Last but not least HUMAN provides a micro-
particle enhanced immunologic D-dimer assay for diagnosis of deep
vein thrombosis of the leg, pulmonary embolism or certain cancers.
