HUMAN’s multipurpose clinical chemistry assays for
manual and automated testing use a variety of tech-
nologies for detection and quantitation. The assay
range comprises enzymes, substrates, and electrolyte
assays with high precision and long stability.
Calibrators and controls with defined reference rang-
es and values are available.
The ‘Complete Test Kits’ contain the reagents as well
as the necessary standards and/or calibrators, where-
as ‘Reagent Kits’ contain just the reagents.
Autocal can be used for calibration of the enzymatic
assays on clinical chemistry analyzers and systems
ranging from the AutoHumaLyzer to HumaStar series.

Compact semi-automated clinical chemistry analyz-
ers are perfectly suited for small laboratories and as
back-up solutions. Each analyzer offers different fea-
tures for different requirements.

The HUMAN family of clinical chemistry analyzers
offer the right solution for any laboratory – whether
compact solutions for smaller labs or automated re-
agent management for high throughput laboratories,
HumaStar 80 HUMAN has the right instruments and reagents in
HUMAN quality.
HUMAN’s automated analyzer range features instru-

ments suitable for entry-level to medium-throughput
automation. All automated analyzers are optimized
HumaStar 100 & HumaStar 200 for use with HUMAN reagents. Reagent refrigeration
and continuous programming and sample loading on
the advanced analyzers ensure efficient operation.
Applications for HUMAN multipurpose and most im-
munoturbidimetric reagents are pre-programmed on
the instruments.

HUMAN’s automated hematology (CBC) products are designed for small
to large laboratories and range from 20 to 80 samples throughput per
hour. HUMAN offers both 3-part and 5-part differential systems with
special developed and dedicated reagents suitable for human and

Tumor Markers

HUMAN is providing laboratories with integrated testing solutions
for Hemostasis offering Hemostat reagents and HumaClot analyzers,
both semi-automated and fully automated, to support the economic
and accurate assessment of clotting or fibrinolytic parameters.
HUMAN offers a broad range of commonly performed screening
parameters for diagnostic testing of blood disorders related to coagula-
tion and fibrinolysis. The assays are being performed to determine the
risk of prolonged or excessive bleeding following surgery, childbirth or
to determine the risk of a potential thrombotic event. The offer covers
liquid and lyophilized reagents for the determination of prothrombin
time (PT), thereby investigating the extrinsic pathway and supports the
monitoring of patients undergoing oral anticoagulant therapy. HUMAN
also provides reagents for the determination of activated partial throm-
boplastin time (aPTT) a general screening test of the intrinsic pathway
(Factors: XII, XI, X, IX, VIII, V, II, I) and thrombin time (TT) for the basic
screening profile using citrated human plasma. The offered fibrinogen
reagent is a functional assay intended for the quantitative determi-
nation of fibrin clot formation (Clauss Method) in human plasma to
identify fibrinogen defects. Last but not least HUMAN provides a micro-
particle enhanced immunologic D-dimer assay for diagnosis of deep
vein thrombosis of the leg, pulmonary embolism or certain cancers.

External Quality
HumEQAS is a new, web-based EQA service starting with a selected

menu of the most important clinical chemistry parameters. Testing
samples are provided by your local HUMAN distributor only. HumEQAS
allows laboratories to regularly evaluate their performance by measur-
ing blinded samples of control sera as if they were patient samples.
Testing results are compared to peer laboratories measuring the same
blinded samples.
HumEQAS provides proficiency testing to medical laboratories all over
the world. Thereby HumEQAS supports laboratories to fulfill their
quality requirements. HumEQAS adds confidence by enabling the com-
parison of test results of peer laboratories all over the world that are
using identical or comparable instrumentation. Even small laboratories
in rural areas get the chance to participate in EQA Services and improve
their testing accuracy and reliability.
HumEQAS will be extended subsequently with more parameters and
methodologies.

Quantitative Real-Time PCR
The detection of nucleic acids with Polymerase-Chain-Reaction (PCR) offers significant advantages for the iden-
tification of pathogens in humans.
The HUMAN test kits based upon real-time PCR for the quantitative detection of HIV-1, HCV, HBV and CMV in
human EDTA-plasma or serum samples. The kits enable the accurate quantitation of viral load, which is neces-
sary to determine the infectiousness of patients, to monitor the therapeutic success and detect early treatment
failures. Specific primers and probes, a separately amplified internal control and 4 quantification standards are

Loop- mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a new and innovative technology in the field of
molecular diagnostics. It enables the amplification and detection of target DNA faster (<1h) and more
specific than conventional real-time PCR. The amplified products are detected visually by fluorescence

PURE Extraction Kit
Pure Ultra Rapid Extraction (PURE) is a fast, efficient extraction method to obtain highly pure DNA from
patient samples. It is easy to perform and does not need any additional equipment. After five minutes
heating treatment the lysed sample is transferred into the absorbent tube containing absorbent powder
that removes possible inhibitors of the LAMP reaction. The purified DNA is directly transferred into the LAMP
reaction tube.

At the isothermal amplification process, all reagents are manufactured to work perfectly at a constant
temperature. During the amplification process, 4 different primer pairs recognize 6 distinct regions of the
target gene. The products obtained are a mixture of stem loop DNA pieces with multiple loops (Loop-AMP).
