course. Further, Aveiro is a beautiful city and the canal boat drive was very nice, the beach
was incredible since this was our first time seeing an ocean. I will recommend it to all
other PhD students on my home university.“

„Our scientific trip to Aveiro was more than a technical workshop. I was indeed multicultural
meeting where I met new colleagues from different universities all over Europe and
different nationalities and traditions. The workshop was well organized and special regards
acknowledgment to be paid for Prof. Uwe Kähler. Aveiro is a very nice city, for me as
Syrian; it links the European’s and Middle East’s civilizations.“

„What I really admired was looking at engineering problems from a mathematician’s point
of view. Lectures were explained thoughtfully in detail and gave me a solid foundation
for the practical – project work. Project work has crystalized theoretical work and put
in practice specific problems whereas lectures gave a broader view of appliance. From
those very thoughtfully combined lectures and project work I saw that for my current PhD
research all topics seem to be applicable.“
