Summary;
As a DSA Inspector, it is my responsibility is to ensure that the contractor bui
lds according to plans, specifications and applicable building codes. Pre-constr
uction review (constructability review) of the plans allows me to work with the
owner to ensure they are getting what they want and stream line the project with
minimal costly change orders prior to bid of the project. Based on my qualifica
tions of being a Contractor in public works, a Project manager, along with an In
spector for the state, this gives me a unique perspective of the task of constru
ction to assist the Design team
As a Contractor doing primarily Public works projects, has given me a perspectiv
e of plan reading to find the costly mistakes and mediate them with the design
team prior to costly change orders, along with my expanded knowledge of the nuts
and bolts of daily HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and general building practice.
