1) INTRODUCTION:

Government Transformation Programme focusing in enhancing the skills of the people

together with envolving the softskills with them. Along with the government policy, to
enhances

Therefore, the ENTREPRENEURSHIP CLUB of ENTREPRENEURSHIP

DEVELOPMENT CENTRE and Sumayyah has taken an initiative to organize a community
service programme known as “Ne”.

The main objective of this program is to assist the government in creating opportunities
to the villagers in several areas as to enhance their standard of living. During the six-day
program, the organizer will concentrate on three significant areas which include education,
economic and welfare. The organizer will request assistance from the related government
agencies, education institutions etc. in order to provide relevant information as well as
technical assistance during the programme.

OBJECTIVES

1. To widen and strengthen the Islamic ukhuwah among students and villagers besides
spreading the good ethics to the people.
2. To built the spirit of responsibility and caring within the students to the problems faced
by the villagers.
3. To give opportunities to the students to practise the knowledge they have obtained in
real life situation by doing good deeds to the society.
4. To be intermediaries between residents and government agencies especially in
developing their socio-economy projects.
5. To provide fellowship to the residents.
6. To help the younger generation to excel in their academic achievement.

5) ACHIVEMENTS

Alhamdulillah, we had conducted the program succesfully and received fully support

from participants and all committee members. Even though we only conducted this program 5

days and 5 night but the output is still give us some satisfaction.

We started this program with Opening ceremony that officially launched by Assistant

of District Officer (ADO), Encik Shahril bin Dato’ Ismail. After launched, we devided all the
particiupants from IIUM to their foster families and the program for that day finished after all

the participant went back to their new home.

During this program, we manage to conduct ‘gotong royong’ at three different places

according to villages involved in this program at the same time on the second day morning.

From this activity, we built a strong relationship among committee members, JKKK and

residents of Kampung Sg. Si Puteh, Kampung Tapah and Teluk Mas. After Gotong Royong,

we incharged workshop namely “Bengkel Usaha Tani”. This worshop got support from Jabatan

Pertanian, Bank Pertanian and RISDA.

To give some information and entertaiment to the residents we conducted video show

about the current issu. And we choosed the Indonesia film, “Kiamat Telah Tiba”. In this

session, some of our committees take opportunity to built a strong relationship with the

residents especially parents and children. At first, they look very shy but after we get close to

them, they were so friendly.

On the third day of this program, we focused our activities to the secondary and

primary school students. We conducted motivational program and study skills at the same time

at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg. Si Puteh and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sg. Bayor. These

programs started from 8.00 am until 5.30 pm. At night we had succesfully done Motivational

Talk to parents entitle “Responsibilities of Parent, Succesful of Children”. The speech was

delivered by Mr. Samsudin Mohamed, Deputy Producer Education TV Sector from Ministry of

Education Malaysia.

We continued our program with half-day mini expo on Saturday that involved with

Jabatan Pertanian, RISDA, Takaful National, Jabatan Kesihatan and also booth from IIUM. On

that afternoon, we also had special gathering with Member of Parliament Larut, Yang

Berhormat Mulia, Raja Haji Ahmad Zainuddin bin Raja Haji Omar. He also sponsored lunch

for that afternoon. In the same day, at night we conducted Forum Ad-Deen and the title was

“Pembentukan Akhlaq Keluarga”. Suprisingly the attandance of local people were about 3,000.
 On the fifth day, we organized Sukan Rakyat and telemath for all residents. The event

start early morning about 8.10 am with I-Aerobic and continued with telemath and contest

which divided into 3 chategories( children, youth and adult) and we end this sport carnival with

final games futsal and souvenirs giving. At night, Malam Kebudayaan and Konsert IN-TEAM

with informal closing ceremony that launched by Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN)

Selama, Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Mohd Yusof was held succesfully.

We closed this program formally on 11th April 2005 and was closed by penghulu

mukim Ulu Selama, Encik Mahmud Fauzi bin Ghazali.

6) PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

As far as we are concern, there are some problems that occured during the program. In

the nut shell, the biggest problems are:-

 Transportation

 The biggest problem for this program is transportation. This problem lead to many

problems such as committees failed to come early and lack of participants because they

also in rural area and not all the resident have own transportation. They just hope for

bus from IIUM. Lastly, PC bureua had to manage several loopholes like scheduling the

bus accordingly and set up the waiting places in every Kampung. We also got jeep

support for Kampung Tapah from Pejabat Tanah dan Daerah Selama.

 Less Cooperation and commitment

In the some event, especially motivational program and forum ad-deen, we got less

cooperation and commitment from schools and they also not more responsive. It make

unorganized planing and not well-prepared program because too many last minute

information. Lack of delegation, human resources management and commitment

resulting unbalance situation where there were extreme side of struggle and jobless

committees'
  Communication breakdown

The misunderstanding and less cooperation among the committee members make our

program run slowly. Some bureaus were so disorganized due to bad communication

breakdown between them and other bureaus. Some of the committe members just know

the information about their bureaus incharge only not the all programs.

 Discipline of committee members

The biggest mistakes done by the majority of committee members is not punctual. In

every program we got problem with this such mistakes. Other than that, it is noticed

that many commitees didi their own affair during the program.

7) SUGGESTIONS

For future programs, the committee members should be well prepared mentally and

physically and studied the whole programs starting from opening until the end of the program

not just for the program that their bureaus incharge only. To ensure the task run smoothly, hope

the information given to residents and all parties that involve are true and complete. We also

hope that the committees will work hard to promote their program to the residents and get

close to them to make them involve and contribute to the program.

8) FULL REPORT

Program : Opening Ceremony and Grouping of Foster Families

Date : 6th April 2005
Time : 3.00 -5.30 pm
Venue : Dewan Serbaguna Sg. Bayor

Opening ceremony was started formally at 3.15 pm with the opening speech by

the chairperson. Program began with a speech from Bro. Musa Abd Rahman, the director of

the Khabaran dari Selama 2005 program. This was later followed by the speech from Principal
of Mahallah Uthman, Dr. Mohammad Deen Mohd Napiah. In his speech, he advanced his

gratitude to residents Selama because their eagerness to accept IIUM students. He also hopes

that, with the present of the students in this village can give a value in term of cooperation,

knowledge in helping the residents. Lastly, he hoped this programme would run smoothly

without facing any problems.

Among the VIPs who attended this ceremony were Assistant of Distric Officer (ADO),

Tuan Shahril b. Dato’ Ismail, Principal of Mahallah Uthman, Dr. Mohammad Deen Mohd

Napiah, fellows of mahallah Uthman, Principal of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sg. Bayor,

Head Master of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg. Siputeh, Penghulu-penghulu mukim Ulu Selama,

Ketua-ketua Kampung and the Committees of Jawatankuasa Kampung (JKKK) Sg Siputeh,

Tapah and Teluk Mas.

Opening ceremony was officially launched by the Assistant of Distric Officer

(ADO), Tuan Shahril b. Dato’ Ismail. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to IIUM

students who put lots of effort to come out with this kind of progamme. He also emphasizes on

the roles of students towards society in helping them especially in the academic field of the

children and teenagers, which are located in urban area. He wishes that this programme would

be done continuosly in the future.

The next agenda was foster family session. This ceremony ends with doa recitation by

Bro Khairi. All the students were allocated with a foster family and went back to our new

home, our foster family.

Program : Gotong-royong
Date : 7th April 2005
Time : 8.30 am -10.30 am

 This is one of the social activities conducted for the residents during this program. The

purpose of this program is to strengthen the ukhuwah between the students and the villagers in

general and their foster families in particular. This event held in three different places at the

same time. We divided the task according to villages that IIUM student lived for this program.

All the places were decided by the JKKK of each village. The event went smoothly and in fact

it finished early due to the commitment shown by the villagers, Ketua Kampung, JKKK and

also committee members.

Program : Workshop (Bengkel Usaha Tani)

Date : 7th April 2005
Time : 2.30 -5.00 pm
Venue : Dewan Serbaguna Sg. Bayor

The bureau of publicity conducted “Bengkel Usaha Tani” in collaboration with Jabatan

Pertanian, Bank Pertanian and RISDA. Every Agency gave fully commitment and support to

committees. They were given session to spread information to the local residents about the

latest technics of agriculture. This workshop was designed to expose the villagers toward the

opportunity to increase their salary through involvement in agro-based industry.

Program : Riadhah
Date : 7th April 2005
Time : 5.30 -6.50 pm
Venue : Field of Sek Keb Sg. Si Puteh

Two matches were held between IIUM students and Villagers, Futsal, and

netball League. Both games started at 5.30 p.m and finished at 6.50 p.m. Even though the

games were supposed to start at 5.00 p.m. but due to the lack of time management, the games
started half an hour later. Through this game all parties were seen to be participated. All gave

their support and concentration in this game.

There was less participation from villagers for netball game. Only two groups from

primary school and 2 groups from IIUM students involved. Because of that, we mix students

and committees in one group.

On this day, we built the integration between the students and the local youth in order

to give them support and avoid them from doing bad deeds and wasting their leisure time.

Besides, it’s also to build the spirit of responsibility and caring within the students to the

problems faced by the youth today.

Program : Video Show

Date : 7th April 2005
Time : 9.00 -11.30 pm
Venue : Canteen of Sek Keb Sg. Si Puteh

To give some entertaiment with education, we manage to conduct a video show. This

program was incharged by preparation and technical bureau. This event start a bit late as

audiences came late because raining which started from the evening. At the beginning, they

were seen not very interested with Indonesian Film “Kiamat telah Tiba”. The committees had

no choice to change the video because they had no back up plan.

Program : Motivational Program and study skills

Date : 8 and 9 April 2005
Time : 8.00 am - 5.30 pm
Venue : Sek Men Keb Sg. Bayor & Sek Keb Sg. Si Puteh

Since 2 schools were joining our program, we devided our facilitators into 2 teams

(Team A and Team B). Team A was responsible or secondary school and Team B for the
primary school. The Motivational program at Sek. Men. Keb. Sg. Bayor started about 8.00 am

on 8th April 2005 and was conducted by Bro. mohd Faizal. There were about 13 groups of

students from SPM candidates with 14 facilitators. The study skill program was conducted on

9th April 2005 from 8.00 a.m until 11a.m.

At the same time, motivational program at primary school was conducted by Team B.

there were about 89 students from 7 differents schools around Mukim Selama and tey were

devided into 9 groups. They started with study skill on the evening of the first day and the fully

motivational program wss on the 2nd day.

There were 3 LDK that we use for both school. LDK 1 called "Taaruf dan

Persaudaraan", LDK 2 called "Potensi Diri" and LDK 3 called "Cabaran dan Penentuan

Matlamat Diri".

PROBLEMS & SOLVING

1. Fewer co-operations between module's bureau such as preparation for filings and etc.

Get more co-operations from other bureau.

 Solution: I sent SMS to all committees member of module to give more co-

operations when the programs begin.

2. Many of committee members resign last minute and the director assign the new

members without mention head and assistants of module bureau.

3. Sek. Men. Sg. Bayor required us to organize motivational program at last minutes and

many troubles come out.

 We tried our best effort to organize this program by using the same module with

Sek.Keb.Sg.Si Puteh.

4. There is no committee from D&T bureau to look up the participants especially to

observe their discipline and during prayer.

Program : Motivational Talk for Parents
Date : 8th April 2005
Time : 8.30 -11.30 pm
Venue : Canteen of Sek Keb Sg. Si Puteh

The program was organized to enhance the understanding of the responsibilities of the

parents toward the betterment and the successful of their children. We invited Mr. Samsudin

Mohamed, Deputy Producer Education TV Sector from Ministry of Education Malaysia to give

speech on that night which title “Responsibilities of parents, Succesful of the children”. This

event started off very late until the speaker had to skip his major points. The response given

was pretty fine shown through their laughing and smiling. However, some of them were not

listening and sleeping. The objective was not clearly conveyed.

Program : Mini expo

Date : 9th April 2005
Time : 9.00 am -12.30 noon
Venue : Sek Keb Sg. Si Puteh

The main idea of organizing this program is to assist the government in bringing better

development for the villages. For instance, through the exhibition the organizer expatiated on

three (3) areas which are education, economic and community services. Therefore, the

organizer was requested an assistant from the related government agencies to look through the

potential development of the selected villages. However, some of the agencies didn’t come at

the last minutes because some problems. Only Jabatan Pertanian, RISDA, Jabatan Kesihatan

and Takaful National involved in this mini expo. We also organized songs request for those

who interested.
Program : Forum Ad-Deen
Date : 9th April 2005
Time : 8.30 pm -11.30 pm
Venue : Dewan terbuka Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sg. Bayor

Forum Ad-deen was held as one of the important slot in this program for the benefit of

the local people. The objective of this program is to create awareness to the villagers about the

importance of the Aqhlaq in the society, starting from the family. The society will be success

and living in harmony if the families and neighbours can life in prosperity and peace according

to the ways shown by the Prophet (P.B.U.H) and also Islamic teachings. The program was

started about 9.15 pm. We chose “Pembentukan Akhlaq Keluarga” as the topic to be discussed

by the panelist. The moderator for this forum was ustaz Nushi Mahfudz, Lecturer from Ahmad

Ibrahim Kulliyah of Law (AIKOL), IIUM. And the panelist for this forum were Dr. Jamnul

Azhar Mulkan (Medical Officer, Kangar Hospital), Dr. Rubiah Kulop (Institud Bahasa Melayu

Malaysia) and Dr. Habeeb Rahman Ibramsa (Lecturer of Quran and Sunnah Department,

Kulliyyah of IRKHS, IIUM).this program was held successfully due to fully commitment from

pejabat Tanah and Daerah Selama, penghulu-penghulu Mukim Ulu Selama, all committee

members. Suprisingly, the attendance of local people were more than expected and about 3,000

was coming. Praise to Allah S.W.T. the forum was successfully achieved his objectives interms

of the number of audiences and their response.

Program : I-Aerobic and Sukan Rakyat

Date : 10th April 2005
Time : 8.00 am -1.00 pm
Venue : Field of Sek Keb Sg. Si Puteh
 This special event was conducted to build integration between IIUM students and the

villagers and also done in order to tighten the friendship or ukhuwwah among the villagers and

the students. It also hopes from this program that the students could gradually adopt themselves

into the community so that there will be no gap between parents, teenagers and students. This

event was started in the early morning with the I-aerobic that was conducted by Mr Johari.

After an hou, we continued with telemath for children and some contest for the parents and

also committees. However, the participants and audiences are not in the field to give support.

It would be better if the villagers could be more responsive since the event was not meant for

students only. The hot wether did influence the crowd to support and show their enjoyment.

We ended this sport carnival with final games of futsal and present giving.

PROGRAMME REPORT:

On 10th April 2005 (Sunday), bureau of special task and publicity organized Culture

Night and IN-TEAM concert. This programme was held at field of Sekolah Menengah

Kebangsaan Sg. Bayor.

This program started with the arrival of the residents and participants. The purpose of

this programme was to exchange the culture through performance. Beside that, it aims to

strength the concept of ukhuwwah among the students and residents. Hopefully through this

programme it will inculcate the strong relationship among students and residents.

Hadrah tari Groups was invited to flourishing this program and the most interesting was

IN-TEAM performance. They performed about 10 of their famous songs. In this event also, we

invited ADUN Selama, YB Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Mohd Yusof to deliver speech and

formally closed the program.

Closing ceremony started about 10.30 a.m with the opening speech from the

chairperson followed by the speech from the director of Khabaran dari Selama 2005 program,

Bro Musa Abd. Rahman. In his speech, he said that, in general this program was successfully
done and gets a good feedback from the residents. Lastly, he expresses his thanks to all

individual and party that involved directly or indirectly in making this programme running

smoothly.

Closing ceremony was officially done Penghulu Mukim Ulu Selama, Mr. Mahmud

Fauzi. In his speech, he addressed his special thanks to all IIUM students who involved in this

beneficial program, ketua-ketua Kampung, JKKK and residents of kampong Sg Si Puteh,

Tapah and Teluk Mas on their good cooperation, support, and willingness to accept IIUM

students as a part of their family. He also hope that this kind of programme will be done

continuosly and make it as an annual programme. Then, we were showed the flashback all the

events that we have done in one week during Khabaran dari Selama 2005 through multimedia

presentation. We ends the program with doa recitation by Bro Normanjaya Yahya and we held

photography session before we went back to home. Lastly we depart to IIUM at 9.00pm.

10) CONCLUSION

It is anticipated that all committee members Khabaran dari Selama 2005 , participants

and all residents of kampung Sg Si Puteh, Tapah and Teluk Mas, especially those who directly

or indirectly involved, will get knowledge and experiences while organizing this meaningful

program. It is exceped that this objectives of this progran had been fulfilled.

It is our great pleasure to give note of appreciation to all parties that really support this

program especially organizing committees who keen to sacrifices their time, energy and face

the preasure with enduring and patience, our principals, Dr. Mohammad Deen Mohd Napiah

and Assoc. Prof Dr. Zuhairah Arif Ghadas, our beloved advisor , Bro. Mohd Helmi Daud and

Bro. Ilmizat Ismail, Member of Parliament Larut, YBM Dato’ Raja Haji Ahmad Zainuddin bin

Raja Haji Omar, YB Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Mohd Yusof, ADUN Selama, Assistant of

District Officer (ADO), Tuan Shahril bin Dato’ Ismail, Pejabat Tanah dan Daerah

Selama,Perak, Community Service Unit (CENSERVE) IIUM, Mdm Martinelli and Che’ Razi
Jusoh, both penghulu mukim Ulu Selama, Penghulu Abdullah and Penghulu Mahmud Fauzi,

ketua-ketua kampung, JKKK, foster families and those involved in ensuring the smooth

running of this program.

Even though there were many obstacles and preblems occured before and during the

program itself, all committee members had try their best to solve and overcome the problems

and any shortcomings. Therefore, the orgenizer had been fully satisfied with the flow of the

event and it is hapy to say that this program had been succesfully held. Let us pray to Allah

that all our efforts, contribution, support and sacrifice shall be consider as “Ibadah” and “amal

ma’ruf”. May Allah bless our effort.
