Downstream Production Supervisor
Martek Bioscience processes micro algae to manufacture pharmaceutical grade oil
for baby formulas and nutritional supplements.
Due to our proprietary process I am restricted from describing our process tech
nology however:
I managed 2 shifts (24 hours) for 3 different production departments; Spray Dryi
ng, Extraction, Refine-Bleach-Deodorize (RBD), packaging and warehouse responsib
ilities for 24/7/365 rotating shift. I managed operation and training of operato
rs to run DAF for waste water.
Accomplishments:
Implemented improvements to our waste water management as part of my philosophy
for continuous process improvement, which saved 10s of thousands of dollars per
month in hauling expense of waste water. Increased uptime for production by bet
ter working relationship between maintenance and production. Better training for
operators with increased knowledge of process and equipment. Martek has achieve
d superior rating the last 2 years for its AIB audit.
