Nick Giallourakis looks to a dif-
ferent figure of inspiration and
heroism than most.
Steven Giallourakis is a 17-
year-old cancer survivor who
was diagnosed with stage four
bone cancer in his lower spine
and lungs in March 2006.
The news came as a shock to
the family of five, particularly to
brother Nick.
It was an uphill battle for
Steven and his family during 10
months of chemotherapy treat-
ment, radiation and two spinal
surgeries.

The Flashes outscored the
Lakers both Friday and Satur-
day nights, 6-3 and 5-3, respec-
tively.
The Flashes started the first
period Friday strong, scoring
two back-to-back goals.

picked up two more ties against
Bentley College in Waltham,
Mass. this weekend.
It marked the seventh time
that the Lakers have been taken
to the extra session this season,
as stalemates occurred during
the last four overtime games.
Both Friday and Saturday’s
games turned out to be identical
outcomes, ending with 3-3 ties
on both nights.

Women’s hockey picks up two impressive wins

This year’s Mercyhurst women’s
hockey team has found that and

honors in back-to-back week-

near-perfection in their remain-
ing games, Agosta has risen to
the challenge, leading the women
to a five-game winning streak
with a sweep of Quinnipiac 7-1
and 7-0 last weekend.
Since their last loss at Provi-
dence, the Lakers have gone on a
tear, outscoring their opponents
26-6 with an average win differ-
ential of four goals.
