GUIDELINES CARRYING OUT PRE LAUNCH

DRIVE TEST.

1. TRX Testing
2. Handover Testing
3. Coverage test
4. Ftp Testing
Trx Test.
Launch Tem Investigation data collection software, and connect the
GPS and the MS, to make your work easy , write down each
frequency for each band on each sectors (i.e sector 1 900 – afrcn 20,
1800 afrcn 812, sector 2 900 – afrcn 14, 1800 afrcn 842, sector 3 900
– afrcn 24, 1800 afrcn 890
This will enable you know which frequency you intend to lock on
when facing at least
300 meters away from that sector , measure with the ruler icon on
your.
1. this test has to be done in a stationary(not moving) position.
And 300 meters away from the site.
2. on the tems window after connecting your ms and gps , go to
the control and configuration tab or just next to connect button
you will the equipment properties TAB

OR

3. when locking the frequency lock the band first on either 900 or
1800 depending on which one you want to work on first, you
might want to move close to the site and sector first before
locking to avoid Limited service mode and if you should
encounter limited service mode at any point please restart your
mobile station and tems.
4. When you lock on 900 band, go to AFRCN cell reselection
and select 900 only assuming you are working with 900 band
check for the frequency range you want to lock on say sector
one above 20 and check , be sure only 14 is checked and ok it
Check your drive test window by now u should see a blue
highlighted afrcn 20 listed as the first signal the mobile is
camped on. setup up a 2 mins call 4 times and record.
5.
900 bands are highlighted in blue while 1800 in purple, you can
see from the above frequency band that afrcn 20 the ms has been
locked on it .then you can start testing please ensure that your trx
level is between -35 to -45 dbm , sometimes depending on the
distance -50 is ok if not then there is low power on the trx site and
its should be reported.
From the above image the red dots signifies three stationary drive
on each sector about 30meters away from the site be sure to get
good trx level before doing this test go as close as you can to the
sector.

Handover Testing
Basically this test is to ascertain that the sites is able to handover
to its self (synchronous) and other cells (asynchronous) around it
That is a quick 360 DT (shakedown) within the site sectors and
other sites as shown by the diagram below
Steps
Drive from the main site sect 1 to sect 2 and sect 3 for the 360 dt
record , then drive from main site A sector 1 to site A and back
record, then sect 2 to site B and back record, then sect 3 to site c
and back record they must be in the same direction and defined
as possible neighbors ie, Main site A sect 1 is defined as neighbor
to site sector 2 and 3
Please note that during this drive test all band should be unlocked.

Coverage test
Coverage test is more like the Handover test but this time you
have to lock the frequency band on 900 or 1800 and drive in its
coverage . for instance say sector 1 on the 1800 band you are
working on is AFRCN 864 ,Ms equipment properties and lock on
864 and also lock handover on 864 so it doesn’t have give
handover to any other site, the main reason for this test is to see
the coverage distance of each sector on that cell.

SECTOR 1
SECTOR 2

SECTOR 3

From the above image B1054-1 is serving into coverage area of

1010-1 because its being locked and we want to see how far it can
serve till it gets bad rx-level up to 1.3 km and above, till you get to
the point where there is the red spots which signifies the poor
coverage area then you can stop recording as soon as it drops call
or ends call, some times the ms goes into a limited service mode,
so you might need to restart your mobile, please record this
exercise for each sector and record.

FTP testing.
Ftp testing is also like the trx testing locking frequency on each
sector band 900 0r 1800 , connect via winscp and normal network
connection record for 1800 and record for 900 for 3 to 5 mins tops
each sector.
