SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Organization:
It has always been my job to organize everything within my sphere of influence:
the forms and paper paths we used, where things physically were stored, how to m
ake things easy to find and more efficient to do, usually with a minimum of supe
rvision, merely being told what the end result was to be.
At Reed Brothers Security I was first Organizer, then Purchaser, then Inventory
Manager and Sales, which covers a wide range of organizational duties such as: o
rdering, receiving, stocking, tracking shipments, billing customers, entering ne
w items into our database and deleting old items, preparing lists for the once-y
early physical inventory count, overseeing the inventory count, customer service
, and training of new employees. There was no particular tracking system in plac
e when I started there, I started ordering and receiving systems, a stock contro
l system, and forms to keep track of these areas.
At both Reed Brothers and R&H Wholesale I was responsible for organizing stock,
forms and supplies on the shelves; I implemented a numbered-bin system which mad
e finding items faster and moving whole lines of stock from one area of the ware
house to another easier. I designed the current year-end Inventory Count system.
I am familiar with both PC's and Macs, using them for Purchasing and Inventory
Control, Internet Research, E-mailing and word processing.
Business Management:
Experience with a full range of retail management such as light bookkeeping, cas
h register, billing, bank deposits, correspondence, and maintaining records.
Training:
I have trained new employees in areas of customer service, sales, stocking, cash
iering, purchasing and maintaining records. I taught inexperienced employees abo
ut many types of products: how they work, and how to sell them. I am routinely c
alled in to take over on sales to customers who are difficult to work with or do
not know how to describe what they want and I have become proficient at steerin
g them towards what will best suit their needs. These skills are useful in setti
ng expectations and defining deliverables for both internal and external custome
rs.
