AUTHORED and IMPLEMENTED a new global policy on finance-handling of plant mainte
nance work at more than 30 sites to create consistency and standardization. Cond
ucted financial control reviews for over 15 sites in the Americas Region while d
enoting no significant deviations; also identified Best Practices from the revie
ws and made these available for sharing on a global online data repository.
RECOMMENDED process which reduced executive approval timing of capital projects
by 60%. This required providing a high-level proposal to the Executive Vice Pres
ident to influence and obtain mutual agreement before moving these recommendatio
ns forward. A slow, manual process with multiple "approvers" shuffling paper to
automating this electronically via Global Livelink Workflow on the Intranet with
the I.T. Department designing specific, user parameters greatly improved effici
ency and productivity.
RECONCILED past-due, third-party Product Exchange Agreements that were delinquen
t more than one year. Recovered millions of pounds of product as a result of rec
onciliation versus write-off. Later, analyzed and redesigned the stock accountin
g process to prevent reoccurrence by training staff on this new process as well
as recommending Policies & Procedures to strengthen internal controls.
PROVIDED complete finance budget set-up for a $350M government-subsidized CO2 em
issions reduction project. This involved meeting strict budgetary guidelines per
government requirements in order to obtain approval for an 80% subsidy which wa
s successfully approved.
DEVELOPED a new, standard process on invoice processing that reduced late paymen
ts by 40% in only four months, thus improving cash flow.
ACHIEVED a 35% reduction in closing schedule by streamlining various reporting/r
econciliation tools. Additionally reduced complexity of budget analysis by utili
zing data warehouse tools such as Business Objects & Access Database to process
high volumes of data in a more efficient manner, thereby reducing expenses.
