The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is a process of
conversion and initiation in the Catholic Church as adults (anyone
seven years of age or older) journey together in faith and share
experiences while discerning God’s call. If interested in participating,
please call the office. We will be happy to assist you on your journey.
DO YOU HAVE A CHILD, SEVEN YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER,
WHO HAS NOT YET BEEN BAPTIZED CATHOLIC?
Once a child reaches the “age of reason” (seven), the child is brought
into the Church just as an adult is—through the Rite of Christian Initiation
of Adults. Following this process of preparation which lasts about a year,
the child is fully initiated into the Church at the Easter Vigil through the
sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. In order to
have a child baptized Catholic, at least one parent must be Catholic.
If you are considering having your child—age 7 or older—become
Catholic, or if you have any questions, please contact Sister Marie at

MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Please contact the
Church Office to schedule a meeting with Father
Augustine. You need to allow six months for the
preparation process and it would help us if you could
obtain new baptism certificates before the meeting.
We can also help with the convalidation (blessing)
of a civil marriage and sometimes with the
annulment of a previous marriage as long as the
civil divorce is complete.
BAPTISM PREPARATION is offered to parents and
godparents and is required prior to scheduling a
baptism. Please register for the class by calling
Deacon Paul Volkerson at the Parish Office
(407.293.9556 extension 110). Classes take
place on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm.

Saturday, June 4
This coming week is the last
week of school and a poignant time for
the Principal of Saint Charles School as she
witnesses her ninth and last graduating class.
Mrs. Agnew came to lead the school at the
time when our graduates were entering
Kindergarten and she has followed their
progress, and that of hundreds of other
children, with great dedication and love. I know
she will continue to pray for them and we
should pray for her as she continues in the
service of Catholic education - hopefully in a
less demanding role. Next Saturday, June 4,
Mrs. Agnew will be at the 5:00 pm Mass and
there will be a reception afterwards in the
school Social Hall where we will have an
opportunity to thank her. All are welcome.
2011 Lay Ecclesial Ministry
Commissioning
Earlene Mohr, our Ministries Coordinator,
has been studying in the Diocese’s
Commissioned Lay Ecclesial Ministry Program
for the last three years. It involves study
weekends at the San Pedro Center and a
great deal of reading and essay writing. Earlene was still working
full-time at Bishop Moore Catholic High School when she started
the program so it was very demanding for her. This past year she
has been retired so has had the extra time needed for her
dissertation (on adult faith formation). At the same time she has
been employed part-time by the parish in the post which was
formerly filled by Mrs. Pat Markusic. One of her tasks has been
updating our database and I know she has contacted many of
you to get your ministerial mandates renewed.
On Saturday June 4th at 12:30 Bishop Noonan will
celebrate a Mass of Commissioning at St. James
Cathedral for this year’s 15 graduates of the program.
All are welcome to attend and support Earlene at her
commissioning.
