es in a central utility power plant environment. Work exposure includes mechanic
al engineering design/modification projects, including fuel gas and liquid fuel
distribution piping, steam, desalination and auxiliary chemical feed systems, ho
t water and condensate, compressed gases and vacuum systems. Experience includes
working with energy conservation projects, energy audits and utilities forecast
ing, and performance evaluation in a fossil fuel-fired steam turbine cycle plant
. Served as a member of a team handling the technical evaluation and economic as
sessment of a proposed combined cycle gas turbine power plant, which will be an
addition to an existing fossil fuel-fired steam turbine cycle plant in Saudi Ara
bia. WorleyParsons experience includes developing and overseeing technical proje
cts and studies, solar energy augmentation to NGCC plants, carbon capture tech-n
ology assessment and scale-up analysis, and peer review of feasibility study for
pulve-rized coal supercritical units in Vietnam. Has acquired experience on bus
iness develop-ment efforts including preparation of contract proposals and proje
ct profiles.
EXPERIENCE
2007 -

-Served as the team leader in a peer review undertaking of a conceptual stage st
udy for a 1600 MW pulverized coal power plant in Vietnam.
-Prepared the final report for the scale-up study of a post-combustion carbon-ca
pture technology intended for coal-fired power plants. Later, become a team-memb
er and final report co-author in the validation phase and higher capacity (250 M
W equivalent) scale-up of the same post-combustion carbon-capture and sequestrat
ion technology.
-Managed a project with EPRI on solar energy augmentation on existing natural ga
s combined cycle power plants situated in the United States.
-Responsible for developing and overseeing technical projects and studies for cl
ients in the Power and Energy sector. Responsible for two concurrent studies re
garding the technology status and project development risks of advanced coal pow
er generation technologies and lessons learned in upgrading and refurbishing old
er coal-fired power plants;
-Front-End Engineering and Development Project Lead for ENMAX Corporation Calgar
y Cogenera-tion (2 x 2 x 1 Combined Cycle) Power Plant project.
-Actively participated in the preparation of a WorleyParsons project proposal fo
r Saudi Electricity Company Boiler Technical Services and Balance of Plant contr
act.
2004 - 2007 Senior Generation Engineer Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Saudi A
rabia
Responsible for conducting technical and economic feasibility studies involving
power plant concerns. Developed options to retire or refurbish major power plan
t components, part of which included desalination units, demineralizer plants, s
team coil air heaters, and auxiliary boiler. Developed specifications and scope
of work for new contractual projects in various power plants owned and operated
by the Saudi Electricity Company. Developed modification designs/ specificatio
ns, and scope of work for in-house manpower projects in various power plants own
ed by the Saudi Electricity Company. Prepared technical support studies on vari
ous problems facing an electric utility power station. Reviewed new plant engin
eering specifications and scope of work prior to actual procurement of equipment
and site installations.
SEC Qurayyah Power Station. Proposed 3180 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant for the
Represented SEC in the project review. Plant in Ghazlan, Saudi Arabia - 2400 M
W fossil (gas and liquid) fuel-fired steam turbine/generator. Represented SEC
in the project review. Various power plant systems modifications in an SEC-owne
d 1600 MW fossil fuel-fired steam turbine/generator power plant in Juaymah, Saud
i Arabia
1984 - 2004 Thermal Plant Engineer SEC, Saudi Arabia
Responsible for the preparation of conceptual and detailed plant mechanical syst
ems design projects up to implementation, and overseeing other power plant engin
eering activities. Modifica-tion and other engineering works included conversio
n of circulating water pump lubrication from desalinated water to seawater. Des
ign and technical consultancy support for a new liquid propane evaporation facil
ity to serve as emergency back-up to existing sweet gas supply source for burner
ignition in a 1600 MW power plant. Studied and evaluated refurbishment and upg
rade proposal of a 30-year old, 4 x 400 MW steam and electric power generating s
tation. Conducted thermal plant performance evaluations (heat rates and efficie
ncies) on a regular basis. Conducted periodic audit coordination with power pla
nt sole fuel supplier (Saudi Aramco) especially in matters of metering discrepan
cies and verification testing, including technical review of proposals for meter
ing accu-racy improvement. Served as the power station coordinator for the Foss
il Operation and Management Information System (FOMIS) representing Saudi Electr
icity Company in the 1990s.
1981 - 1984 Fleet Control Supervisor SEC, Saudi Arabia
Supervised the SEC Fleet Control Office personnel. Allocated and assigned trans
port vehicles and work equipment according to field requirements and company-app
roved budgets. Assisted all company vehicle and equipment users in the planning
and budgeting for their transportation and work equipment, such as, mechanics t
rucks, cranes, bulldozers, payloaders, insulator wash trucks, etc. Assisted fie
ld operations in the choice for the right equipment to be deployed for specializ
ed applications including heavy lifts and desert and off road applications.
1980 - 1981 Transportation Engineer SEC, Saudi Arabia
Worked as part of a team of engineers that technically supported the formation o
f a fleet of support vehicles and equipment in a newly consolidated electricity
company. Prepared and developed technical specifications for transport vehicles
and work equipment most suitable to jobs in a harsh desert environment. Respon
sible for studies pertaining to proper maintenance facility designs including ma
terial handling equipment operating in an electric generating power plant enviro
nment and remote switchyards and transmission/distribution centers. Evaluated e
ngineered product designs from original equipment manufacturers in relation to a
daptability of these original equipment manufacturer products to harsh desert co
nditions in Saudi Arabia.
