METHOD STATEMENT FOR TEMPORARY & PERMANENT

SITE ELECTRICAL WORKS

1. OPERATIONS

1.1 Request to be made to the site incharge of KPGI with details as follows:

a) Purpose
b) Location with sketch of distribution
c) Power consumption details
d) Earthing details

1.2 Deployment of qualified electricians for carrying out the work.

1.3 Site should be properly levelled and barricaded before commencement of the
installation job.

1.4 Installations should be conforming to statutory requirement comprising of proper


earthing, required capacity ELCB and standard switch gears or approved make.

1.5 All the cable used shall be aluminium / copper armoured PVC insulated of
appropriate rating.

1.6 No single stranded shall be used for inter connection and lighting works.

1.7 Whenever cable joints are unavoidable, it shall be properly insulated or proper
junction box shall be used and as far as possible taken over ground with proper
supports giving adequate ground clearance.

1.8 All cable connections shall be through proper cable lugs, connectors and cable
glands.

1.9 All the spare holes of switch board shall be plugged.

1.10 All the DB’s, switch boards etc shall be properly earthen subsequently
connecting to the main earth pit.

1.11 After the completion of the works, installation shall be checked by the authorised
person and report submitted through the required checklist format.

1.12 Protection from rain and sun for DB’s switch boards.

1.13 No smoking anywhere.

1.14 No storage of paints, diesel etc.

1.15 No provision to use as store for dress material, food etc.

1.16 Smooth accessibility.

2. CHECKLIST

2.1 Ensure proper cautioning with caution board regarding the danger due to
electricity.

2.2 Electrician working shall use proper safety shoes, rubber hand gloves, ear
defenders, electrician tool kit. Etc.

2.3 Proper rubber mats shall be used in front of switch gears.

2.4 All unwanted materials shall be removed from the premises.

2.5 Handling by only competent / approved electricians.

2.6 Fire fighting facility.

2.7 Appropriate authority (in writing) from competent persons.

3. INSPECTION & DOCUMENTATION OF CHECK

3.1 Electrical site checklist of KPGI in place.

3.2 Availability of authorised DG operators / technicians in site spot.

3.3 Report of tool box talks.

3.4 Availability of first-aid box at site.

3.5 Emergency arrangement taken care of.

4. MONITORING AND FOLLOW-UP ACTION

The above arrangements shall be checked and verified by the concerned execution
engineer / supervisor of KPGI and the system shall be reviewed at a periodical interval
by safety personnel of KPGI.

In case of identification of any of the lacunae / lapses, as described, the activities shall
be halted by safety / electrical personnel of KPGI and no risk / short cut whatsoever
shall be taken at any point of time.
