Hospice Care Supervisor.(9/1991-8/2010)
I was hired to open the office in Carthage in 1991 and since then have supervise
d the staff including RNs, LPNs, and HHAs. I have been responsible for the oper
ation of the office and ensuring that all changes are relayed to and followed by
staff. I have been the communication source for the staff and have assisted in
coordinating cares.
Over the years my assessment skills have been fine tuned in part as a necessity
since hospice and home care nurses are out on their own and do not have someone
on hand to double check their findings and to give full and accurate information
to other staff and physicians.
Administer medications including IV and Subq meds and set up of mediplanners.
Assess patient condition with a full head to toe assessment and focusing on symp
toms and management of the same.
Assign or prepare work schedules, duties, tasks, or responsibilities.
Conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests in the home as related to assisting patie
nts with BS monitoring and urine checks.
Confer with team members to resolve problems.
Consult with medical staff.
Consult with contracted health practitioners and providers.
Develop and implement patient management or treatment plans and assisted in deve
lopment of computer based care plans.
Draw blood for testing.
Ensure compliance with health standards.
Monitoring use of supplies to help control cost.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Maintain patient chart.
Modify patient treatment according to patients' responses and conditions.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet, symptom control and physica
l activity.

PAP and continuous IV infusion.
Provide nurse phone triage.
Record medications or treatments given and monitoring need to change meds accord
ing to symptoms.
Refer individuals to community services including various government support age
ncies and use of local churches and support agencies to improve patient and fami
ly care.
Take, monitor and record patient vital signs with full assessment of patients.

Coordinate with health information system.

I have been also supervising the staff in the Hannibal office since 1/2010.
I received a score of 100% on my management survey from the employees that I sup

with previous ICU experience, though somewhat limited. I was also employed by K
eokuk Area Hospital from 1981 thru 1984 in the Psychiatric care unit and assiste
d in opening the unit. I worked for Lee County Health Department providing home
health care and hospice care from late 1984 to 1991. In 1992 I assisted Sherri
ck Drug in starting up the in home IV therapy program providing IV and chemother
apy services in the home.
