excess of 98% including external factors; my responsibility for all aspects of
management & administration of the K4 Publishing System, including XML extractio
n, establishment & implementation of all Mac/PC workstation standards & configur
ation images helped reduce service calls by almost 50%. I can number among my su
ccesses my roles as project manager on system upgrades & special issues, daily s

better comprehend their clients' sense of urgency in an emergency. I accomplishe
d this by compiling syllabi for various training courses, including materials &

With more than 25 years experience managing Macintosh and PC platforms running v
arious iterations of their operating systems, as well as a familiarity with some
forms of UNIX, I possess a unique capability of integrating cross platform tech
nologies within corporate guidelines, policies and restrictions by establishing
all corporate workstation standards and images, including new software acquisiti
on, testing, user acceptance testing and end user training. My extensive design
and administrative experience with publishing platforms such as the K4 Publishin
g System, the Quark Publishing System, ATEX and others, along with the associate

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
* Migration: K4 Publishing System (Winter 2010): Cloned existing K4 system into
a new Virtualized Windows Server environment; developed complimentary PrimeBase
backups with enterprise-wide server backup and redundancy systems.
* ServiceDesk Helpdesk System (Summer 2009/Winter 2010): Ongoing development and
implementation of an in-house web-based ServiceDesk helpdesk system including k
nowledgebase population, auto routing via helpdesk email system, and report extr
action that lead to improvement in response time and greater uptime for clients.
* Office Relocation (Summer 2007): Member of team responsible for the relocation
of the magazine offices from midtown to Soho; responsible for energy auditing,
equipment tracking and location testing, as well as coordinating the charitable
donation, or proper disposal of, unwanted equipment.
* New Publishing System Project Manager (Spring - Summer 2006): Project Manager
for the search, analysis, selection, testing, piloting, staff training and imple
mentation of New York Magazine's K4 Publishing System and its associated TANSA p
roofing/style system. Specified contract terms, font licensing, workstation stan
dards and acquisition, defined and established workflow requirements as well as
guaranteed employee participation in the selection, approval & acceptance proces
s via incentives.
* IT Department Development: (Spring - Winter 2004): Core member of four IT prof
essionals tasked with the design, development, installation and implementation o
f a new IT infrastructure to replace the outsourced IT support structure in plac
e when the magazine was purchased from Primedia. Our team built a world-class IT
support department from the ground up including establishing corporate standard
s, desktop refresh, infrastructure upgrade and/or replacement.
* RNC Show Daily (Fall 2004): Designed, developed, installed and supported an ad
hoc newsroom for New York Magazine's effort to produce a show daily for the Rep
ublican National convention. Included establishing workflow, equipment acquisiti
on & configuration, newsroom design & setup and liaising with the RNC & other th
ird parties to produce four show dailies for the Convention.
* Multiple Projects for Time Inc. (Winter - Spring 2004): Developed & implemente
d training programs enabling the Network Operation Center staff to assume manage
ment of Time Inc.'s publishing systems; assisted various publications (Time, Spo
rts Illustrated, Fortune, People) with upgrading their QPS Publishing Systems to
the then current version, including software analyses & tests for corporate, le
gal & technical requirements.
* QPS 2.0.10 Rollout & Workflow Analysis (Winter - Spring, 2001-2): Project mana
ger for the full migration of all of CMP's QPS 1.11r1 systems to the then curren
t 2.0.10 systems. Responsible for analyzing, reengineering & instituting new pu
blication workflows, coordinating upgrade training, and mentoring of in-house IT
staff.
* WuliWeb Analysis & Rollout (Spring - Summer, 2001): Member of the integration
team responsible for implementing CMP's barcoding of printed assets in partnersh
ip with WuliWeb and AirClic. I was responsible for developing technical applicat
ions within a QPS environment and integration into existing workflow. As primary
liaison, I worked with inhouse IT staff, editorial clients and third party vend
ors.
* Requirements Definition Project (Summer, 2000): Project manager for an enterpr
ise-wide study for CMP's next generation workflow and asset management system re
quirements. Responsible for identifying subject matter experts, coordinating int
erviews, supervision of in-house staff and integration team members.
* TELECOM '99 Show Daily (Winter, 1999): Designed and implemented two remote Qua
rk Publishing Systems to produce the show dailies and host magazine on site in G
eneva, Switzerland. Responsible for workflow creation & implementation, newsroom
design, equipment leasing, setup & support. Scope included on site support for
the editorial & production staff of CMP's LiveTV joint venture with Compaq & Eri
csson.
* Speaker, Seybold Seminars (Spring, 1999): "Asset Management: Designer/Publishe
r Issues" was an in-depth look at asset management from the digital asset origin
ators' perspective. The conference's focus was on leveraging the huge expenditur
e in asset management into practices that offer maximum return on investment.
