Eric A.

Wright
Eric Wright has an extensive background in Real Estate Development, Architectura
l Design, Project Management, Business Management, Accounting, Contract Negotiat
ions, Community Affairs, and Manufacturing. Professionally, concentrating on pu
blic, private and affordable housing developments in distressed and impoverished
neighborhoods throughout the Chicago land area. Eric works with non profit com
munity based development corporations, building affordable rental and for purcha
se housing and also providing community services which include, social services
and business development. Eric also has many years of direct contact with privat
e and governmental bodies, which administrate housing development programs. Er
ic has had consulting contracts with a public housing management company. Eric
is well versed in all the building trades and has performed all of them at one t
ime or another.
Eric is seeking to attain the Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Policy and Ma
sters Degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois. Supplementing the
se disciplines by learning more about the manufacturing processes and incorporat
es the disciplines in order to bring greater quality control, design, and econom
y into the building process.
Eric attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned the Bachelors of
the Arts Degree from the College of Urban Planning, Architecture and Art in 1992
, with the concentration in the History of Architecture and Art. The course cur
riculum included studio work, Urban Planning, and the History of Architecture an
d Art, with a concentration in the architecture of the 20th century. Eric's expe
rience in Construction management is quite varied. Projects include;
* Rehabbed two apartment buildings in the Garfield Park community, one 3 Unit Ap
artment building, and a 13-unit building nearby Bethel Hospital.
* Republic Aluminum, Project Manager for the window replacement for the Chicago
Housing Authority. Which included the installation of 16,000 windows, blinds, 1,
600 Window guards and architectural repair where needed.
* The installation for over 6,000 windows in several CHA Senior housing developm
ents.
* The installation of 600 new windows in the Ontario Lofts Development.
* The window replacement for the Christian Industrial League Men's Quarters.
* The window installation for the Silent Partners Film Studio.
Eric trained and supervised the engineering department in computer aided design
software and equipment, along with installing 3d design software and equipment f
or the in house advertising department. He also was engineer for the computer a
ided manufacturing equipment for the CAD/CAM V-Groove glass-etching machine, and
subsequently trained successors in the operation of that device.
Eric was project manager in the commercial rehab of 409 W. Huron for ResMar Deve
lopment, in the rehab of a 44 unit SRO Building on Central Ave, as well as the r
ehab of a nearby 31-unit apartment building, for the P.R.I.D.E. Development Corp
oration. I supervised the rehabilitation of a 15 Unit and 41 Unit apartment bui
lding for the Lawndale Christian Development Corporation. He was project manage
r for the rehab of a 34-unit apartment building owned and operated by that emplo
yer. He also supervised the completion of 6 other apartment buildings for the
Neighborhood Housing Service in the Garfield Park community.
In 1999, Eric sat on a committee to write the 5H home ownership program for the
Horner Housing Development. This program is a proposal for residents of the pub
lic housing units to purchase their units from the Chicago Housing Authority.
Eric was Project Director for Uptown Habitat for Humanity in the design and cons
truction of a 15,000 sq. ft 12 unit condominium building on West Warren Boulevar
d. It was his responsibility to train, supervise, and keep safe this ever-chan
ging crew of people over the course of the development. For this development Er
ic worked with two architectural firms, S.O.M., directly with Adrian Smith and P
hillip Kupritz & Associates (Now K2 architects).
Now with Near West Side Community Development Corporation, Eric has developed 11
8 units for the Horner Homes Redevelopment, 30 homes for the New Homes for Chica
go Program, 6 market rate homes in the West Haven Community, the construction of
a 15,000-sq. ft. Walgreen's, and an additional 5,000 sq. ft retail space at the
corner of Western & Madison. This is the single largest commercial development
on that street since that street burned after the riots in 1968. Eric has repr
esented the organization at many workshops, seminars and has responded to RFP's
and RFQ's offered by the City of Chicago's Department of Planning and Department
of Housing.
