* Contributed to the successful planning and technical execution of a major data
center hardware and software migration, infrastructure consolidation and techno
logy upgrade..
* Design, integration, implementation and final retirement of GEDI - a multi-ve
ndor, multi-protocol transport switch allowing SNA and TCP/IP EDI applications t
o inter-operate over a very fast, high-bandwidth Local Area Network. allowing GE
's proprietary Honeywell EDI applications to inter-act with similar applications
on UNIX servers, IBM workstations, and IBM Mainframes utilizing SNA/LU6.2 and T
CP/IP communications protocols. I then went on to even more challenging roles, i
ncluding
* Served as the Network Architect, Data Center Manager, and Chief developer and
implementer for GEIS's network interconnect effort, installing IBM Tivoli Netvie
w 5.3 for z/OS, Windows, and UNIX, Migrated 11 LPAR's from Z/OS 1.7 to 1.9 - Inc
luding IBM and third part (CA) program products. Migrating SNA legacy network to
TCP/IP Enterprise Extender.
* Provided business systems analysis and design in migrating existing mainframe
IT infrastructure and assets toward SOA. Installed and supported z/OS, z/VM, TPF
, and Linux. Architected specific z/OS versions of SOA product suite built upon
WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Process Sever and WebSphere Enterprise
Service Bus. Facilitated connections to client core SOA architecture, CICS Trans
action Gateway and IMS SOAP Gateway, J2EE and Java Messaging Service (JMS).
* Developed an IBM assembler interface to DFdss data backup utility, using langu
age-specific constructs (C, C++, Java, and JSP) to leverage clients UNIX/C encry
ption and decryption programs for Mainframe tape backups.
* Installed and customized IBM and third party products for z/OS migration. Cust
omized HCD/HCM, UNIX System Services, SMS, TCPIP, SAS, VTAM, ACF/NCP. Customized
and tested TELNET, LPSERV, and FTP servers. Installed and configured the NPF fa
cility of TCPIP. Setup VTAM and JES2 definitions. Operational support in setting
up system housekeeping jobs to archive SMF data and console logs, backup jobs,
automated IPL, etc.
* Utilized SOA architecture systems and application support for a successful mig
ration to an SOA/ MQ/Series / WEBSPHERE MQ transport environment. Responsible fo
r maintaining all third party products and supporting client applications (inclu
ding CICS/WEBSPHERE server, ORACLE and IDMS databases). HOSTBRIDGE, BMS to XML m
essage formatting and HTTP transport integration into WEBSPHERE, JAVA and .Net a

* Architected, designed and was the QA Testing Engineer for a large financial c
ompany payment processing system project utilizing Sun Microsystems computers an
d Cisco Systems routing technology. Project utilized a BEA/TUXEDO - SUN/SOLARIS
- C++ based financial switching EDI application to enhance an OS/390 based legac
y system to allow secure WEB based (TCP/IP) access to the VISA systems (VICS).
* Utilized J2EE (EJB, JDBC, JTS, JMS, and JAVA/Serviette components). Utilized I
BM WEBSERVER and J2EE to integrate a high-transaction, high-volume e-business pa
yment processing application into a strategic E-business. UNIX, C, C++, TPNS, SU
N/SOLARIS, BEA/TUXEDO, ORACLE, EMC'S storage products, IBM Web Server and JAVA 2
Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Implemented TIVOLI Enterprise Console and NETVIEW op
erations and management.
* Converted client to OS/390 from an MVS/XA environment. Installed and customize
d IBM and third party products. Customized HCD/HCM, Open Edition, SMS, TCPIP, SA
S, VTAM, ACF/NCP. Configured Open Systems Adapter to run in LAN Emulation mode o
n a FORE Systems ATM network. Customized and tested TCPIP, TELNET, LPSERV, and F

* Setup development, security, and operational standards. Staffed and trained an
operations and development staff.
* Implemented a satellite based broadcast system for a national drug store chain
and GTE Spacenet to download/upload pricing, inventory, and other Mainframe bas
ed information to over 2,000 pharmacies. Utilized CICS, LU6.2(APPC and CPI-C), X
.25, NOVELL LANS, IBM TOKEN RING, SDLC, C, C++, SCO UNIX .
* Utilized TPNS to simulate a functional and performance test of a VSAT satellit
e versus terrestrial SNA network and CICS/DB2 application, benchmarking various
configurations, gathering response and performance data from NPM and SMF. Utiliz
ed SAS for graphical reporting.
* Developed the GEIS LZW compression algorithms. Resulted in a win-win situation
in which vendors saved 75% of previous EDI transmission costs, while at the sam
e time increasing the usage of GE's time sharing services.
* Proposal team effort resulting n winning a very large space operations contrac
t from NASA.
* Designed and programmed a performance measurement system for the space shuttle
. Utilized HP HW, MPE and UNIX, POWERHOUSE, FORTRAN, COBOL, IMAGE, SQL, ADA, ART

* Responsible for a successful re-tooling and automation effort of an entire man
ufacturing plant. Worked hand-in-hand with a team of department heads during thi
