IT Consultant (2009-2010)
Directed IT operations, managing R&D biopharma products manufacturing group of u
p to 20 members. Developed a comprehensive IT strategy to address short term an
d long term IT needs, managing projects including system configuration, testing,
training, and other activities ensuring project was completed on time and under
budget. Collaborated with business areas and appropriate IT functions to resol
ve IT and business issues. Applied business analysis to IT projects comprised
of requirement gathering and analysis, business analysis planning and monitorin
g, and solution assessment and validation.
* Led business and IT groups in the selection of a manufacturing execution syste
m (MES) to replace manual paper based systems. Developed implementation plan fo
r multiple system modules of the software suite to achieve benefits in the least
amount of time. The result was a multiyear, multi project schedule for impleme
ntation.
* Persuaded IT management for start date in quarter four of 2009 instead of quar
ter one of 2010 using existing hardware money. Negotiated business resources an

* Led a nine member, cross-functional team (Quality, IT, Training, and Manufactu
ring Subject Matter Experts) in the design and implementation of the first modul
e of Syncade, the MES system for R&D Bio Manufacturing. Assisted in the creatio
n of SOP's, training, testing, and a disaster recovery plan.
Clinical Trial Materials Manager (2008-2009)
Charged with developing the IT strategy for the clinical trials group consisting
of 200 employees with accountability for 20 staff members in three operational
groups. Delivered clinical trial materials, meeting the demand of both new and
existing trials. Ensured all SOP's were followed. Provided coaching, employee
development and performance reviews.
* Performed operational analysis to determine reason for late orders from depart
ment. Analysis identified that the orders were late due to insufficient informa
tion to start the order. Given proper lead time, orders were timely distributed
, saving $70K annually. Developed weekly metrics to identify orders failing to
meet proper lead time. Initiated process to notify management with late label d
esign, reducing label issues by 25%.
* Implemented a common source of data to track spending on IT projects, resultin
g in improved cost management and more accurate tracking.
IT Manager (1998-2008)
Managed operations including site networks, desk top support, server / data cent
er operations, phone system, site AV systems, quality / document management syst
ems, shop floor systems, lab systems, environmental systems, engineering systems
, supply chain management systems (SAP) and site analytic systems for serving a
bulk drug manufacturing site comprised of 1000 employees operating in a 24/7 man
ufacturing environment. Supported full software life cycle. Accountable for st
rategic planning, aligning business needs with IT projects ensuring regulatory c
ompliance and adherence to policies and procedures while managing 20 direct repo
rts. Provided guidance to keep projects on track and within budget.
* Managed IT functions at site related to a global SAP project affecting 80% of
operations and involving 800 employees. Project was completed on time without i
ssue and back to 100% capacity within 2 weeks. Set the standard for other sites
to achieve. Appointed and selected to assist in installation at other sites; a
udited project and cutover plans; reviewed inventory plans, incorporated changes
, and confirmed readiness to go live within a matter of weeks.
* Led project and team of 20 to convert the warehouse management system to an SA
P module. Project affected 66% of operations. Project was completed on time, $
55K under budget, and back to being fully operational within one week.
* Developed the Manufacturing Data Integration System which was adopted company-
wide at all manufacturing sites. Design allowed for each manufacturing site to
get a DW feed from the corporate data giving each site the ability to create rep
orts off the data or add additional data feeds. Also, enabled support from a ce
ntralized point for common item and the flexibility for sites to modify to meet
needs.
* Proposed changes to reporting system for IT department. Eliminated need to hi
re site manager for IT infrastructure, saving $125K annually. Restructured grou
p into functional team including Telecom/Networks, Desktop/Workstations, Data Ce
nter, and Security. Eliminated audit issues.
* Assigned to manage SAP conversion at Speke site in the UK when it appeared the
site would not meet the required cutover date. Improved their inventory / mate
rial management plans and cutover plans to meet tight deadline. Sit was able to
go live on scheduled date, saving nearly $1M.
* Laid out multiple year plans to upgrade the site network, improving operations
and meeting future planned site expansions, saving $100K in maintenance and rep
lacement costs.
Senior System Analyst (1995-1998)
Hired for IT application design, development, implementation, and support for ma
nufacturing systems. Served as technical leader for manufacturing system projec
ts. Provided user training and education, working with internal customers to id
entify and plan IT solutions.
* Developed plan for the installation of Promix, an ERP system. Designed the ba
r code labels, reducing the number of label formats by 50% using software to con
trol values and add information to labels. Site was first to use bar codes and
label design became base standard for the SAP project.
* Led team of five in the creation and execution of the cut over process which w
as completed and operational as scheduled.

e financial system. System supported annual physical inventory with a highly co

* Designed functionality of a Manufacturing Execution system (MES) developed to
provide genealogy of key components within steering gears and track gears to cus
tomers for improved quality management. System used a laser to make a bar code
directly on a key gear component. Led team that developed, tested and installed
the entire system. New system was also capable of reporting cycle time, produc
tivity at key operations, and operator productivity.
* Participated on cross functional team that brought in additional manufacturing
sites within the division. Identified system needs and conversion process to m
ove sites from their systems to the division systems. Planned work, identified
resources, and trained users to meet overall project timeline. Each site folded
into the division on time and without major operational impact.
