Objective:
I recently passed my FE exam and am eager to begin accumulating work experience
in the structural engineering field in order to achieve my goal of obtaining my
Professional Engineering license.
Employment History:
Structural Designer
O'Donnell & Naccarato, January, 2008 to October, 2009
Philadelphia, PA
* Prevented missed deadlines for other designers by performing miscellaneous str
uctural designs during crunch time (using ASD and LRFD) for building components
such as beams, columns, frames, connections (bolted and welded), joists, trusse
s, slabs, studs, footings, anchors and rebar using materials including steel, co
ncrete, masonry and wood.
* Saved the company tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours of valuable
time by checking the vast majority of shop drawings coming through the office
in a quick and accurate manner, and finding mistakes well before fabrication and
construction.
* Resolved fabrication and construction issues in a timely manner by interacting
with clients, contractors, project coordinators, fabricators, and other designe
rs on a daily basis.
* Ensured buildings were being constructed and/or renovated according to our str
uctural documents by performing site visits and developing field reports for pro
jects, including hospital expansions and parking garage restorations.
* Allowed for streamlining of the company's operation by simultaneously working
on multiple projects each day, including the design of new structures and the re
inforcement/expansion of existing structures.
* Became familiar with codes and manuals including AISC Steel Construction Manua
l 13th Edition, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI 318, NDS Wood, USD, CMC Joist & Deck, HILTI, Si
mpson Strong Tie and Marino Ware, as well as computer programs including RAM Str
uctural System, RAM Advanse, Enercalc, Bluebeam PDF, and AutoCAD.
CAD Drafter
O'Donnell & Naccarato, September, 2005 to January, 2008
Philadelphia, PA
* Due to my efficiency and accuracy with AutoCAD, as well as my proactive approa
ch to interacting with engineers in the office, I was heavily leaned upon for cr
eating new and correcting current structural plans and detail drawings for proje
cts of large and small scale while under strict deadlines.
* Prevented mishaps such as losing current drawings and/or incorrectly saving ol
der versions of drawings by properly organizing and filing electronic copies of
our structural drawings as well as drawings coming in from architects and MEP en
gineers, allowing for quick printing and sending out of progress sets and final
sets of structural documents, which I was also responsible for.
Education:
B.S. in Architectural Engineering, Structural Concentration 3.2 GPA
