Prayer in Time of Doubt

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
Sometimes doubt assails me, making me confused and frightened.
I know that this is because we still walk in the shadows of faith while on
earth, relying on the testimony of those who have seen and believed.
But I am still affected to some extent and somewhat shaken by such doubts.
Make me realize that our doubts are the price which we have to pay for the
fulfillment of the universe in Christ and the very condition of that fulfillment.
We must be prepared to press on to the end along a road on which each step
makes us more certain, toward horizons that are ever more shrouded in
mists.
All the while we bring forth fruits worthy of our new life such as charity, joy,
and service of others. In so doing, we ourselves become for others living
signs of the power of Christ's resurrection which the Holy Spirit sets in
motion in the Church. Amen.

Mother Mary, I commend and entrust to you all that goes to make up earthly
progress, asking that it should not be one-sided, but that it should create
conditions for the full spiritual advancement of individuals, families,
communities, and nations. I commend to you the unborn, the poor, the
suffering, the sick and the handicapped, the aging, and the dying. I ask you
to reconcile those in sin, to heal those in pain, and to uplift those who have
lost their hope and joy. Show to those who struggle in doubt the light of
Christ your Son. Amen.

A Novena for Peace of Mind

O Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You, hoping for all things from Your
goodness. You make a root flourish beneath the soil and You can make
fruitful the darkness in which I find myself today. I adore You in all Your
purposes even without knowing them; Your will be done, not mine. May I be
patient! It is so difficult to realize that these trials, heartbreaking as they are,
can be turned into blessings. Lord give me peace of mind, peace of heart,
and peace of soul, as I offer You my thoughts, my words, and my actions,
and yes, Lord, my sufferings. May they all be for Your greater glory. Amen.

Lord Jesus, Give Me Your Peace.

Give me confidence in the depths of danger.

Give me hope when I am surrounded by fear.
Still my worries calm the anxieties pressing in on me from the world I live in.
Lord Jesus, give me Your peace.

Reassure me that You are with me when I seem alone.

Ease my doubting, as You did Thomas's.
Lord Jesus, give me Your peace.

Guide my searching for peace,

so that I may not seek it where it is not to be found,
but I may seek it in You.
Lord Jesus, live in me and give me Your peace. Amen.
Prayer for Faith in Time of Doubt

I don’t even know what to say, Blessed Lord,

I am so confused.
I am caught in the midst of a violent crisis of faith,
so uncertain and doubtful.
I am going through a difficult time
in what touches the depth of my belief.
I am almost tempted to give in
to impatience and despair.
Something within me cries out for you,
yet you seem not to be there.
I have broken away from many childhood beliefs.
I decided to let me faith pass through the filter
of my personal experience.
Suddenly, I found myself too far from you,
from security and certainty.
If I still turn to you, Blessed Lord,
it is because I have not yet lost
the hope of finding
an exit door
for my spiritual anguish
I begin to realize
that by myself I will not be able to overcome
life’s ambiguities and contradictions.
I know the mystery of you continues,
and that my faith-existence is a challenge
to be embraced.
The light of your occasional shadowy presence
makes me see that my crisis comes
from the depth of my maturity,
from the depth of my faith.
The irony, Lord;
there is a crisis of doubt
only because there is faith.
Perhaps I have become too demanding
and too positive.
Open my heart, Lord,
to the right attitude
when confronted with questions
of my faith.

Amen.
