MULVANEY CONSULTING GROUP
Established by Duane Mulvaney, the mission of the firm is to
assist youth in learning the necessary skills to transition
to adulthood. This includes independent living programs,
mentor programs, a Department of Labor pilot project to
promote Shared Youth Vision, youth presentation programs.
MCG establishes collaborative community partnerships with
local, regional and statewide organizations, government
agencies and educational institutions. It also provides
training and consultation for service providers serving
at-risk, disadvantaged, former foster youth and foster
youth. MCG specializes in innovative, creative programs
and problem solving. Youth and those previously served
have been involved in program design, implementation
and service delivery.

* Coordinator for State of Arizona contract serving foster


youth and former foster youth in Pinal and Gila counties.
* Developed all aspects of the Independent Living and
Transition Programs from inception in 1987.
* Developed a comprehensive life skills curriculum based on
the Arizona Academic State Standards. Taught life skills,
supervised instructors, education specialist and youth/mentor
assistants.
* Supervised all programs offered such as the mentoring program.
* Coordinated training programs for community agencies.
* Worked collaboratively with the State Education Specialists.
Served on steering committees for youth programs including
Education and Training Vouchers, IL and Transition Programs,
Youth in Transition Database, statewide youth conferences,
postsecondary education.
* Provided creative and innovative programs to lead youth
to self-sufficiency.
* Collaborated with schools to ensure student education
needs were met. Participated in education related meetings
such as IEP's, 504 Plans, Child Study Teams, Transition
Plans, and technical education orientation. Established
working relationships and programs with colleges to
transition students successfully.
PERFORMANCE MILESTONES
* Developed and managed youth program for 22 years which grew
from 4 participants/month to 80/month with an annual budget
of $450,000
* Secured contracts with agencies in Arizona, Colorado, New
Mexico, and South Carolina
* Developed pilot program as a sub-grantee for US Department
of Labor grant, managed grant budget for 5 employees and 30
youth. Program resulted in attaining all program objectives
over a 1 1/2 year period. Percentage of youth continuing
services beyond the mandatory age increased over 80%. Protocols
were established for service referrals including mental health,
housing, and substance abuse.
* Developed life skills curriculum to comply with federal
legislation regarding transition programs and was aligned with
the Arizona State Standards.
* Designed and implemented creative youth program with training
manuals(panel presentation, mentor, transition to adulthood, life
skills). Success was largely based on the youth's background and
mental health.
* Developed a youth transition program that attained the following
results over a four year period: graduation rates doubled,
post-secondary enrollment tripled, employment rate averaged 75%,
participation in services increased 88%

programs, transition programs, life skills programs, national
youth registry
*Collaborated with community colleges, social service agencies,
community organizations
