Managing a department of six employees, which includes the expediting
functions. Ensuring all materials arrive in time for the specific dry
docking. Vessels include :
Cruise Ships
RoRo Vessels
Bulk Carriers
Tankers
LNG Carriers
Harbour Tugs
Container Vessels
Working to tight time scale of docking on all priority Projects.
Liaising with major suppliers on all steel and profiles, negotiating
contracts which support the Project Managers. Ensuring timely delivery
of materials required in out-fitting the `hotel' structures on Cruise
ships. Working closely with the VP of Cruise Development to ensure
smooth running of major re-construction, riding crews and any follow
up services relating to major dry-dockings.

Technical Buyer
Purchasing for all requirements in the Ship Yard relating to the
dry-docking of Vessels. Continual arrival of ships and vessels which
are all run to a tight schedule of docking time. Sourcing materials
from America as to the limited resources on the Island. Negotiating
rental of Plant, i.e. tugs, Pilots, forklift, cranes, cherry pickers
etc. Ensuring Shipping Agents are aware of urgent material requiring
Customs clearance, and immediate dispatch to the Island. Replenishing
stock and general yard/warehouse maintenance orders. On a constant
call-out to cover night shift workers.
September 2001 - May 2002 Sun Cruises - Technical Buyer
Sunbird, Carousel, Sundream
Procuring all deck / engine / hotel (excluding foodstuffs) / medical
stores and maintenance equipment for the Passenger ship fleet,
reporting to the Purchasing Manager/Technical Manager. Sourcing spare
parts for obsolete equipment, or acceptable equivalents. Building up a
supplier database in the procurement system. Awarding contracts
through sealed bid tenders. Establishing method of monthly call-off
orders to reduce administration costs. Supervising the expediting
functions. Liaising with the warehouse regarding transportation
requirements. Working with logistics departments in order to ensure
equipment arrivals within scheduled deadlines.
May 2000 - September 2001 Sun Cruises - Technical Assistant

Reporting to the Technical Manager, I assist in the day to day running
of a busy Marine Technical Department. In sole charge of liaisons with
Classification Society's in order to ensure that the vessels comply
with current legislation.
Recently taken charge of the relocation and cost assessment of the
companies Marine & Technical ship spares. My work also involves
assisting the implementation of the companies new planned maintenance
system, AMOS W.
The work involves flexibility, particularly with respect to working
hours and the ability to multi-task under pressure. I have spent the
last two months assisting the ships Superintendents in compiling the
dry-docking specifications for three vessels.
June 1999 - January 2000 Kvaerner Oil & Gas - Buyer
BP Harding Project
Responsible for the procurement and materials management for the BP
Harding shutdown. Procurement of fabrication material for the
refurbishment of the HP/LP compressors and all subsequent requirements
for the modification of the Superheadroom, using Engarde system. All
offshore requirements for all commodities for the production and
maintenance departments.

Since returning from Norway at the end of February, finding the oil
industry in a down turn and wanting to use my time constructively, I
joined a Humanitarian Aid group called
