Personal Reflections. Unedited. Undated.

I believe the US is the epitome of pre-apocalyptic idol-worshiping. The 'golden bull' of the pagan god of
, has been replaced by the 'raging bull' of the virtue of unfettered wealth and of money (both
metaphors for u
, that is, truth that we can make through our own efforts and through
individual power). The god ½ (later called the All Mighty God, or God of the Universe, or just God
for short), began as a metaphor for ÷
. This god punished worshipers of the body, of lust,
and of greed. I do believe, even as an agnostic, that we are at the end-times, for we have been idol-
worshipers of greed for far too long. We employ political tactics to keep our system of unsustainable
greed (unfettered growth) alive. However, the great pendulum of (the universe vs. man) is reaching its
apex, and is about to swing back towards reflecting objective reality. I don't know if Yahweh will strike
down with anger or vengeance because he can, or if simply the objective reality of our century of greed
will just come back to bite us in the ass. Either or, we'll be forced to face reality (Yahweh) sooner or
later.

Also, this is but a peek at my increasingly concrete sense of how God and Man relate to each other.
None of this is any way revolutionary (either for myself, see my notes from even two years ago that
reflect this, or for the existing political/religious paradigms). It is just rephrasing centuries old
conceptions of our relationship with god into modern terms. The God of Baal being the ancient
metaphor for self or body or things contingent on humans, and the God of Yahweh being the ancient
metaphor for objective reality that is in no way contingent on the existence of man (aka the universe).

I believe the only way to avoid the destructive pendulum swings of subjective idol-worshiping, and the
inevitable clash with objective reality this creates, is to ensure that all people are taking time to reflect
with God. That is, that all people, through their own terms and their own meditation (say through
prayer), find a balance between Self and Universe. God has not put these words in to my mouth,
because God does not speak. One only needs to cite the bible to see that as time moves forward, God
becomes increasingly abstract and increasingly silent. The God of today is really the Understanding of
the Universe that one comes to through dedicated worship and study and reflection. That is, God
speaks to us not through words, but through the realizations we have when we reflect about ourselves
with the universe. God is not about going to church, from this perspective, unless church is providing a
powerful set of personal rites that an individual can tap (for power and for inspiration). God is really
about prayer. God is about reflection. This is not heresy, because I am in no way promoting the worship
of idol gods. If anything, the worship of the Abrahamic god is idol-worship. The study of
Christianity is allowing me to see that as humanity and religion matures, we are starting to realize that
God is not a person at all, because seeing him as a person is akin to giving him human and bodily traits
(turning him in to an idol). As Yahweh grew (or at least our conception of him), he has become
increasingly silent. He started as a god we can speak with and touch and wrestle, and he slowly evolved
(or our conception of him evolved) into one who we cannot see or name, and eventually in to one we
cannot even hear.

If we continue to ignore God, that is, if we continue to pursue subjective truth above all else, and if we
fail to carefully study and reflect and to ground ourselves, that is, if we fail to listen to God, we will be
blind to the power of the Almighty Universe. Volcanoes and earthquakes and pollution will kill us for
our failure to listen to how we are damaging God's Earth. Speculation and greed will destroy our
markets and our economic balance. Wars will proliferate if we fail to have empathy for the other
creatures and other humans that live on God's Earth with us. A failure to listen to God (to tap in to
God's wisdom through study and reflection and prayer and meditation) will bring about the End-Times.
Unfortunately, the only place I deviate from centuries old religious rites is that I make clear the fact that
God has no human voice, neither to individuals who pray, nor to bureaucratic elites who become
priests. This also means God has no human Son. God cannot speak to us nor bring to us a Son, because
if he did, he would be an Idol. I have been told that we as humans need something to touch in order to
be with God, in order to understand him. This is where I disagree. I think the only place we can be one
with god is through reflection and study and the inevitable Understanding that this brings us. God
speaks to us through our understanding of our relationship between the selfish self and the selfless self.
That is, between I and the Universe. Anything else is idol-worshipping, and will bring about the
inevitable wrath of Yahweh.

God is Gravity. God is the Heavens and its Earth. God is light, not a precursor to light. God is matter,
not a precursor to matter. God is not creation, God is the Universe. We are his children yes. But he is
not an empathetic God, nor a vengeful God. He has no allegiances, nor enemies. He cares not about
us. He speaks, but not to us directly nor in human voice. To listen, we need to study the Universe
around us. God, as the Universe, is far more powerful than humans. He is only vengeful in that our
failure to listen to him allows us to deviate from the truth, and allows us to create a fake (idolistic) sense
of the world. Fake truths pile on top of each other, and allows us humans to build a house of cards.
Eventually God (the universe), like gravity itself, will make our unsustainable house of cards come
tumbling down, not because we incur his anger, but because we've ignored his wisdom.

Science is but one method among many to further our understanding (to learn from God). If anything
however, it is currently among the most pure and the most holy, because through science we learn from
the God of the Universe, rather than from a human-created and human-contingent idol god (such as
through socially created rites). But this does not take away from other methods such as meditation,
where we attempt to separate our particular selves (bodies) and tap in to the Universe. Meditation has
brought about most of the world's greatest discoveries, such as Gravity itself. Meditation combined
with study is, in my opinion, the best way for an individual to further his/her understanding, and
therefore be one with God. If we all do this, and we all cast aside speculation and idol worshiping, we
can begin to realize that our house of cards is dangerous. We can then begin to put I and Other on
equal footing. We can then respect our planet, and the wonders and beauties to be found on it. We can
then respect our place in this vast and un-empathetic universe. We can then avoid dogmas and idols.
We can then be free to learn from the Universe, from Yahweh, from God.
