Description:
The Xbox doesnt know whats wrong it freezes after showing the first digit(0) of the error
code.Might be a cold solder joint somewhere under the GPU as someone fixed it with the X-
Clamp replacement, might also be scaler or Southbridge related since this is where the error
code is calculated...
According to stephen.a.j it can also be caused by dust under the Southbridge and the HANA
chip so please check for that...

had this error 3 times(3 boxes) tried re-flowing hana sb nothing re flowed gpu 2
of them worked had a stubborn one re-flowed gpu couldn't fix so i added
shim and screw set under gpu as last resort added 2 washers on 3 on top then 1
on 4th screw played around with the tighten each one loosen so on boom it worked

steoc on 2010-03-09 15:14:01 :
I think this is an 0102 cold joint under the southbridge or GPU, sometimes
pressing eject twice fast gives a 1 and pressing it once gives a 0 so it could
be 0102, 0103, 0110 but you get 0 and 1 out of it and thats all it keeps
resetting back to the first 0 when eject is pressed once.

Details
Primary Error code:
3 RLOD
E-Code / Secondary Error code: E01 (No Audio/Video) / 0001
Binary/Hex: 00000001 / 0x01 -> 1
Known fixes:
1) Make sure your PSU is working and replace it if it isnt
2) Scan the mainboard and make sure that there is nothing that might short something out,
like metal chipping, components, that move out of place while heatgunning, etc.
3) Replace MOSFETs and regulators that are known to cause it if they were blown
4) Check if the standby voltages are existent, if they are not at a certain area replace the
parts in the area which are likely to be defective.
5) Reflow the CPU, HANA chip
In rare cases a reflow might also fix it.
6) X-Clamp replacement
The GPU heatsink might be shorting out if you screwed it in too tight...
Related Errors:
No Related Errors available!
Description:
This error can be triggered by a faulty power supply or a short in the console. The short is
located near one of the main supply lines, so mostly not under the chips, it might also be a
blown capacitor fuse or just a bridged contact. Also damaged DVD power cable.

You may get this error if you have not fully pushed the power cable into the
power port. Ensure the cable is pushed in as far as it can go (You will hear a
click in most cases when it's pushed far enough).

ok, so im getting this error code but as SOON as I turn it on the power supply
clicks and flashes red for like a half second then goes back orange. I get no
fan or dvd action. I checked all over the motherboard and I didnt find anything
wrong. Idk if its the MOSFETS because I have no way of checking them. jus
wondering if anybody knows why the psu led just flashes one time and goes back
to orange.. thanks

what possible whent wrong? I would appreciate if I get a good answer and not go
of coarse with other comments because its very important for me to find an
answer quick.

luigirez1 on 2010-10-19 22:27:07 :
Can also be caused by a transistor breaking off and being replace by a solder
bridge. It also happened when a short is created by the motherboard cage. I
fixed that by putting electrical tape on the bottom of the cage where the
motherboard touches.

mynamesuxlol on 2010-10-10 21:02:58 :
Can also be caused by southbridge, i would apply pressure, then 0002 is gone, i
take away the pressure > 0002

babyface015 on 2010-03-23 19:17:29 :
I had this problem with mine xbox, and i solved this problem by just adding some
thermal compount onder the CPU, i don't know if this always solves this
problem

killrhedake on 2010-01-07 23:28:56 :
This also occurs when the washers used in an X-clamp mod are too large. It
causes a bridge between the GPU and CPU heatsink. Using plastic washers or
reverting to the stock x-clamps will combat this error.

i can confirm that 0003 on a falcon is a gpu problem.
same as solidwars e74
while reflowing to fix the e74 one of the balls popped out from under the gpu(i
know...its the first time i ever saw that happen)

solidwars on 2010-05-21 20:17:27 :
I had this same problem after heat gun reflow on E74 error it gave me 3 RROD
secondary code 0003. I tried loosening the CPU heatsink it made no difference
then i tried the GPU heatsink and it started up. It was working but i wasnt
happy with looseness of the heatsink against mobo so decided to try nylon
washers (slightly thicker) with metal ones on top. No idea how long it will last
but working for 3 days proper use so far.

Primary Error code:
3 RLOD
E-Code / Secondary Error code: E08 (No Audio/Video) / 0020
Binary/Hex: 00001000 / 0x08 -> 8
Known fixes:
1)If you worked on the mainboard recently(soldered or so) remove these wires because you
might be drawing too much power from the GPU
Also look for missing/bridged components like capacitors/resistors
2) If you jtagged the console remove wires and resistors, the parallel port can stay as long
as no PC is connected.
3) X-Clamp replacement
4) Flush with alcohol, let dry, begin Relow with flux like below
5) Reflow GPU (and RAM if this fails) area
6) Reball the GPU and RAM, for bridged solder
Related Errors:

Description:
This error is caused by a bridged solder joint under CPU, GPU or one of the RAM bricks.
This effect can also be caused by tin whiskers leading to shorts and if the GPU was taken off
the mainboard this error will also show up.
It can also be power related(the CPU/GPU or RAM isnt getting enough power). Can also be a
component that is missing or damaged so look for missing and bridged parts near the GPU.
If the console was jtagged and the resistors and cables are still connected it will show 0020,
the parallel port can stay as long as no PC is connected.

Any thoughts? She was working tip-top, no graphics issues and then at the 45
min. mark it was like...1 second of green bars and then auto cut-off. Is it
possible that the unit loosened-up with heat and I just need to tighten up the
heat sinik screws? Also, if I don't do anything can I expect depreciating
game-time? Sorry for the thesis, but I appreciate any feedback you guys can
offer.

domn8r81 on 2010-11-30 05:45:46 :
Older unit been using it for the last two years in Caribbean (can u say
humid?). Began locking-up and graphics issues culminating in 0102. While in 3rd
world performed a real hack job replacing the x-clamps (didn't have stuff
and made washers using abalone guitar picks). Got about 4 hours of play out of
it but then that was it.

Now back in the US, serious about the fix. Did a hybrid and the secondary
changed from 0102 to a 0020. Read more (great info on this site guys, keep it
up) and did a low-temp oven bake. Debated doing a flux flush and oven reflow or
heat gun but decided to put her back 2-gether and giver a go. Got 45 min. and
then 2rod shutdown.

She rebooted fine after a little rest but thinking Flux and reflow? thx!

Silvarion on 2010-11-29 17:52:25 :
This error also comes when there is a short on dvd board like a bad trace
soldering on LiteOn drive. I saw 0021 from a damaged LiteON PCB from screw
over-tightening while the PCB was misaligned.

halo3 on 2010-11-10 03:37:43 :
Can also just be some dust buildup in your 360, just blow it out and clean it.
I've had this in some cases, so it's not an oddity.
-halo3

v41p3r on 2010-08-11 07:40:44 :
So first do the xClapmFix and if it still doesn't work - on the tutorial i
saw you had to put 2 washes on each bolt on the upper side of the motherboard,
so if yours is the same remove 1 from each bolt only from the ones that hold the
GPU cooler thingy and screw it real tight ( sorry for my bad english - i'm
bulgarian after all :D:D )

Wilhelm on 2010-06-30 03:28:50 :
If it is a natural 0020 it is tin whiskers in most cases thats why
overheating(DONT DO THAT) or reflowing the solder balls fixes it.
The tin whiskers are just ultrathin antennas so when they get hot the top parts
break off or if they actually reflow they will be sucked up by the solder..

NickdogV on 2010-06-09 06:11:50 :
I do not believe this 0020 Error code is a bridged solder joint because I repair
these all the time. Usually a bridged solder joint involves luck to get
repaired using a reflow station instead of using reballing equipment. 0020 is
most likely caused by a cold solderjoint underneath the GPU that can be repaired
with a heatgun/griddle.

killrhedake on 2010-05-18 09:40:04 :
I successfully relieved a twentied console last week. Initially I found I could
get it to boot with additional pressure on the GOU heatsink but only toward the
CPU heatsink. I did the xclamp mod on GPU side only and tightened the hell out
of the GPU heatsink, like as hard as I could with my hands alone, and voila! It
has worked like a charm ever since.

I got this error after doing a reflow for a 0102 error. has hybrid xclamp on it.
I loosened the screws a little and it works fine now. I think it was just a

IF you trying to JTAG a falcon and it gives you this code after you wired the
jumpers then check the jumper from j2d2 4 and 7. It may draw too much current
and trip the error.
Simply put a diode, 1n4148, same diode as the other 2, with the cathode (black side) towards pin 4 in place of the
jumper.

to center on both pin lines. I wanted to be sure that there IS connection with
every pin.
Details for Error code E10/0022
Bridged solder joint/Short GPU-> (H)ANA

Details
Primary Error code:
3 RLOD
E-Code / Secondary Error code: E10 (No Audio/Video) / 0022
Binary/Hex: 00001010 / 0x0A -> 10
Known fixes:
1)If you soldered anything to the mainboard before it occured, whatever you are powering
from this point is drawing too much power so get rid of it.Also get rid of everything that you
can see that might bridge anything near the GPU.
2) X-Clamp replacement
3) Reflow GPU and HANA chip
4) If it\'s not the GPU/(H)ANA, it might in rare cases be the CPU and can be fixed by
reflowing the CPU.
5) if you flash with xell on JTAG-fixed xbox360 this will appear, flash back to original.
6) also can be caused by a broken trace (see link below).
Related Errors:
No Related Errors available!
Description:
This error is caused by a bridged/shorting solder joint under the GPU, (H)ANA-chip or in
between. It can also be power related though, for example if you are drawing power from
one of the regulators that power the GPU and HANA-chip.Can also be a component that is
missing or damaged so look for missing parts near the GPU and the HANA chip. In
extremely rare cases it might also be related to the lines that lead from HANA to the CPU.
The chances are however higher that it is the GPU than the HANA chip so you should always
first concentrate on the GPU.
Another cause could be due to a broken trace under the board near one of the ram blocks,
check the picture in the reference section. Thank you arvydas for reporting this solution!

Resistor short confirmed. Received error after performing x clamp fix.
Investigated board for any signs of the problem and found that the gpu or cpu
heatsink (can't quite remember which one) was making contact with a nearby
resistor. I attempted to loosen the screws attached to the heatsink but made it
overheat quickly. To fix this, I removed the heatsinks completely, applied
electrical tape underneath completely covering under the heatsink except of
course the gpu or cpu chips.

I had this error caused by a bad reflow. I reballed the GPU and error was gone
so it definitely can be linked to a bridged solder joint under the GPU as well.
If you can't do reballing it may make it a bit hard to fix so perhaps use
HIGH grade high quality flux to repair it?

Fixed over a hundred of these with no problems. The GPU just needs to be
reflowed using the profile available on here, but you need to leave the griddle
on for 30 minutes after the repair. It works everytime. Like I said, over a 100
of these and not one return in 9 months!

If I do the aluminum sheet fix, where do I put it? I assume between the GPU and
the Heat sink?

This is the most common error code that I see in all the xboxs I repair. About
55-60% of the 3RROD units has this 0102 secondary error code. It is caused by a
cold solder joint underneath the GPU. Heatgun/Griddle will repair these if you
know what you are doing.

hargabyte on 2010-04-19 04:13:29 :
I wouldnt suggest putting an aluminum sheet on your gpu. The only reason this
might work is if the heatsink is scratched up. try sanding down your heatsink
with really fine sandpaper. Also Griff, a hair dryer is now going to help. There
is no way the chip will ever get hot enough. Solder has to reach about 220C to
melt. Thats around 500F.

I have fixed several systems with this error. reflowing the cpu and gpu and
replacing the thermal paste has worked every time for me. I have yet to have one
of these that I couldnt fix

I just was attempting to fix an xbox 360 with a gpu error by reflowing the top
and bottom of the gpu chip. Then, when i put everything back together, the error
was replaced with this. Would this be an easy fix. I have a heatgun, artic
silver 5, and penny's to replace thermal pads. All i ned to know is which
out of all of those will fix this error :D

bigalscot on 2010-01-23 22:27:00 :
Have to say i've cooked my MB in oven, changed thermal paste and still get
the RROD 0102. Used aluminum foil on GPU as a last attempt. It works perpectly.

killrhedake on 2010-01-16 05:25:13 :
Replace thermal paste. 98% of the time, that is the problem. One of the
heatsinks are touching their chip. No X-clamp Mod necessary. Just replace the
thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5.

focusthis51 on 2009-12-12 00:23:14 :
adding an a piece of aluminum sheet to the gpu usually fixes this problem.

Description:
This error is caused by a cold solder joint under one of the RAM chips, mostly its the top
ones, sometimes it can also be one of the solder balls under the GPU that lead to the RAM.
Update:According to stephen a.j it can also be cause by a broken trace that connects the
GPU and the RAM, the reason for it to break could be the flexing in this certain area.

Comments for this Error code:
masterfulmatt on 2010-11-25 01:43:28 :
Can confirm this can be caused by heatsink shorting capacitor, cured using
kapton tape to insulate capacitors.

worst error ever pain in ass tried everything had a e71 turn to 0110

Triokon on 2010-08-29 10:36:06 :
(I just achieved it that the box didnt show any errors anymore and started with
zero green/red lights, but there was only a blackscreen on TV and sounds for
just a few seconds, although the TV turned his screen to 1080p.)
Really hard to believe that a RAM chip just breaks, though the xbox was in
normal playing conditions. But it physically happened. [(Part 2 of the
comment)]

Triokon on 2010-08-29 10:35:25 :
One of my boxes had this error. In my case it wasn`t a cold solder joint under
one of the RAM chips (4 reflows, a x-clamp-fix and a penny fix would have fixed
that), but a very small brick in a corner of one the RAM chips at the downside
of the board (which looked like a small hair on the chip). I fixed this for
maybe an hour by lifting up the broken part of chip at the same height of the
other chip with a very small screwdriver. Then the 0110 occured again and I
couldn`t fix it anymore. (Part 1 of the comment)
NickdogV on 2010-06-09 06:18:12 :
Reflowing the GPU gets these repaired 80-85% of the time. If it's not the
GPU then reflow the RAM. 99% of the time it is the 2 RAM chips directly
underneath the GPU.

i have a 360 and one of the solder joints under a capacitors os broken. is this
