Madame/Sir: Greetings! The UP Manila University Student Council (UPM USC), the highest representative student body in the University, strives to be a campaign-centered, activity-based and service-oriented institution that upholds nationalism, academic excellence and service to the University and the Filipino people. It also has the proud historic role in the advancement of democratic rights and aspirations of the Filipino people. As the University opens another academic year, part of its tradition is to welcome the new set of Iskolars ng Bayan, the incoming first year students of the University, to its halls with a special treat. This year, UPM USC led by the Committee on Freshman and Academic Affairs (FAA) will hold the USC Freshmen Orientation dubbed as Himugso (birth) which will be attended in by over 1,000 students on June 17, 2011 at the Paz Mendoza grounds, UPM College of Medicine, Pedro Gil Street, Ermita, Manila. Among the highlights of this event are the different teambuilding activities and the distribution of the first ever digital USC Freshman Primer (in Compact Disc) also entitled Himugso: Hamon Sa Iskolar ng Bayan to all first year students. The Primer will be an interactive experience that will feature various articles about the University and other related topics pertinent to their stay in UP Manila.
