1 Study/Revision Technique 1.1 General principles 1.1.1 Ideal study period :- between 20 and 40 minutes long.

Any shorter and you will not get into your "stride" within the subject material. Any longer and your attention span and how much your brain can take in (assimila te) will be reduced. 1.1.2 Ideal revision after study:- about 10 minutes after completing a study per iod You need to give your brain time to assimilate the newly acquired knowledge. Thus, immediately after a study period you will NOT know/recall as much about wh at you have studied. As the brain sorts out the new information (chemical reacti ons in the brain), the recall actually improves, so that you know MORE 10 Minute s after the study period.(There is apparently test evidence for this.) 1.2 1 Hour Example 1.2.1 Study Period of 1 hour 1.2.2 Take short breaks of about 1-2 minutes every 20-40 Minutes. Relax, stretch, walk about for a minute before resuming your studies 1.3 Study Period of 2 hours 1.3.1 Take a break of about 1-2 minutes, at the most 30 minutes apart, and ideal ly only 20 minutes apart Relax, stretch, walk about for a minute before resuming your studies 1.4 After Study (1 or 2 hour) Period 1.4.1 Take a break of about 10 minutes Allow your mind to wander a little and do not think too hard about what you have just studied. 1.4.2 Do a 10 Minute review of what you have just studied The timing of this 10 minute review, 10 minutes after the end of the study perio d, coincides deliberately with the brain's maximum recall. This review will keep the brain's recall at a high level for approximately 1 day . Without this review, 1 day after the study period, 75% of the material studied w ill probably have been forgotten. 1.4.3 About 1 day later, do a short review of 2-4 minutes This will reinforce the previous recall and ensure that the knowledge is recalle d for approximately a week. 1.4.4 About 1 week later, do a short review of 2 minutes This will reinforce the previous recall and ensure that the knowledge is recalle d for approximately 1 month. 1.4.5 About 1 month later, do a short review of 2 minutes By this time, the information should have lodged in your long-term memory and fa miliar to you in the way that a telephone number is familiar, with just a small nudge to recall and maintain the memory. 1.4.6 Note about reviews If at any point during the reviews, there are any gaps, or things you want to re turn to, just make a quick note of them, so that you can return to them later. If you find that after the first review, you are having problems with recall, ma ke notes on the issues and come back to them at another study period. The main message of the method is "Study and Review Little and Often". "Study periods should not be longer than 40 minutes without a short break." "Reviews are ESSENTIAL and should be short and repeated regularly" copyright (C) s-right & 44ccbb9bb009cf04a1a0223dedae1ace310cc404acf363aad880a440 82b1abaf (sha256)
