Aviation Business Diploma

(Commercial Pilot Licence with Float Rating and Business Training) Full-time 5-semester/20-month program Starts May 2011 Fees: TBA Vanderhoof campus Careers Air services requiring a commercial pilot license are vital for serving remote areas in northern Canada for: Passenger transport Medevac Fire-fighting Cargo transport Just-in-time delivery services Northern air operators are seeking pilots who possess good communication and business skills, as well as decision-making abilities with regards to managing people and operational logistics. This accelerated program allows you to earn your Private Pilot License (PPL) then builds on that training to put you on a path to a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a float rating. The deliberate placement of this programs five semesters over a 20-month period allows you to take advantage of the best training-weather months in the region, while flying during all four seasons. Upon completion of the program you will earn your Private Pilot Licence, your Commercial Pilot Licence with a float rating, and an Aviation Business Diploma. Or, you can choose to transfer to a partnering program at the end of the fourth semester to University of the Fraser Valley (with a few additional courses) for a: UFV Aviation Diploma with multiengine and multi-engine IFR ratings, or a Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation Before you transfer, you will earn your Private Pilot Licence and a Business Administration Certificate. Admission requirements Admission requirements for the program reflect safety measures established for the aviation industry and ensure candidates accepted into the program have the aptitude and psychological makeup to succeed in becoming a professional pilot. Admission to the Aviation Business Diploma program is a two-step process. Applicants must first meet the entrance requirements, then will be required to take an aptitude test, attend an interview, and provide references to be admitted into the program. Step 1
Admission

Note 2: If a student must choose between taking Principles of Math 12 or Physics 12, we advise taking Principles of Math 12 for the CNC program. Note 3: Students scoring below a specified level will be required to take CNC MATH 145 prior to taking CNC ECON 201 and CNC MATH 157 in their 4th semester. Note 4: The costs of obtaining a current transport Canada Category 1 Medical are the responsibility of the applicant. Step 2 Applicants who meet the basic entrance requirements will be required to take an Initial Pilot Aptitude Screening test. This online test will be administered on site at the Vanderhoof campus to give an indication of each applicants ability in key pilot aptitude areas before they start their pilot training. The costs of the online test are the responsibility of the applicant. Following the online test, a short interview will be conducted with each applicant. During this time each applicants motivation, personal history, conversational English skills, and decision making processes will be noted, and the results of the Initial Pilot Aptitude Screening test will be discussed. All applicants who are interviewed will be asked to provide three personal references who can give insight into their background and abilities. 1. Proof of BC secondary school graduation or equivalent, or proof all graduation requirements will be met no later than June of the same year. 2. A grade of C+ (67%) or better in: Principles Math 11 (Math 045), Physics 11 (Physics 045) , and English 12 (English 050; not Communications 12). 3. Also recommended, but not required, are Principles of Math 12 (Math 050) and Physics 12 (Physics 050). 4. Math Placement Evaluation 5. Proof of Current Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Note 1: Acceptance will be given to students completing graduation by June of the same year they are accepted, so as to provide access to graduating high school seniors. Verification of scheduled completion of graduation will be required from the students enrolling secondary institution in letter format. Verification will also need to state student has met prerequisite course requirements by the end of the first semester of Grade 12.
