TUCSON, Ariz. The following is a rundown of activities that occurred over the past 24 hours within the Tucson Sector. This is only a thumbnail of each incident and an invitation to contact the Tucson Sector Communications Division for more information. Arrests (NGL) On June 20, agents assigned to the Nogales Border Patrol Station apprehended an illegal alien from Sinaloa, Mexico, who admitted to past affiliations with the 18th Street and Sureo gangs. During processing, the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System revealed the subject had prior criminal convictions for drug violations in California. He is being prosecuted under Operation Streamline. Rescues (TCA) On June 20, the Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) unit responded to a call from a concerned citizen about two individuals walking north of Sells, Ariz. Agents located both subjects and took them into custody. BORSTAR treated one for severe dehydration and determined he needed further medical treatment. The man was subsequently taken to a local hospital. (CAG) Early this morning, Casa Grande agents administered first aid to an illegal alien suffering from dehydration and determined that he needed medical treatment. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was notified and the subject was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Assists (CAG) Monday evening, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Casa Grande Station assisted the Tohono Oodham Police Department with a vehicle roll-over accident on State Route 86 approximately 20 miles east of Sells, Ariz. EMS responded to the accident and provided medical treatment to an occupant who was ejected from the vehicle. The other two occupants were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation as a precautionary measure. Since launching the Southwest Border Initiative in March 2009, the Department of Homeland Security has made significant investments towards establishing a secure and safe border environment and improving the quality of life of affected communities throughout the state of Arizona.
