DAMAGE IN TRANSPORTATION
All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent write “Damage In
Shipment” on ALL copies of the freight or express bill BEFORE delivery is accepted or “signed for” by
a GE representative or hospital receiving agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage MUST be
reported to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event, within 14 days after receipt, and the
contents and containers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation company will not pay a claim
for damage if an inspection is not requested within this 14 day period.

Call Traffic and Transportation, Milwaukee, WI (262) 827-3468 or 8*285-3468 immediately after
damage is found. At this time be ready to supply name of carrier, delivery date, consignee name, freight
or express bill number, item damaged and extent of damage.

Complete instructions regarding claim procedure are found in Section “S” of the Policy And Procedures
Bulletins.

CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR STATEMENT


All electrical Installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared for the
equipment shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. Other connections between pieces of
electrical equipment, calibrations and testing shall be performed by qualified GE Medical Systems
personnel. In performing all electrical work on these products, GE will use its own specially trained field
engineers. All of GE’s electrical work on these products will comply with the requirements of the
applicable electrical codes.

The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GE’s field engineers,
personnel of third-party service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to perform
electrical servicing on the equipment.

Procedure
READ and UNDERSAND these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with the installation. Perform
each step in sequence and check it off when completed. If a problem occurs after completion, go back
through the procedure and check for implementation errors before contacting your Ultrasound Region
Engineer or the Online Center.

CAUTION Possible Operational damage. Failure to strictly follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)
precautions during this installation may cause constant or intermittent operational
abnormalities. Strictly follow all precautions.

Perform functional checks to verify that the system is functioning properly prior to installing any
peripherals. Refer to Functional Checks in Chapter 4, LOGIQ™ 5 (2395907) Service Manual.

Chapter 1
Hardware Upgrade Procedure

Section 1-1
Hardware upgrade Procedure
The hardware upgrade procedure is follows.

• RLY Assy : Replace the MXIC ROM for BE9C probe interface functionality in future.

NOTE: If Upgrade Kit is for BEP1, BEP CPU replacement will be needed. Refer to section Section 1-3
on page 10. and check section 2-2-2 on page 18 to confirm the BEP type of LOGIQ™ 5.

1.) Shut down the system.
2.) Switch off the main circuit breaker.
3.) Unscrew six (6) screws (1-6) and remove the left and right side covers. Refer to Figure 1-2 on page
1-6 .

4.) Open Nest EMC cover that is inside of right cover. There are 7 screws, 15 - 21.
5.) Open the NEST cover. Unscrew 9 screws in nest cover

1-1-2 MXIC ROM Installation
1.) The MXIC ROM is on the RLY board that is located in front of the console.
2.) The RLY board have the purpose of the probe interface.
3.) Open RLY Cover at the front of console. Unscrew 8 screws (1 - 8) which are located on both side
of the console.

4.) Remove the 2 pcs of front plastic cover. adjust up/down grip to set the keyboard height to max
height. The up/down adjust grip is at the right bottom of keyboard.

5.) Open the scan EMC cover and open the RLY cover.3 screws on EMC bracket and 9 screws on RLY
cover. After unscrew all of screws on RLY cover. Remove the RLY cover.

6.) ** If DWCD connector is installed on RLY cover, unplug the DCWD connector on RLY assy

1.) Update the Assy revision number on the white blank box using the pencil. If the suffix number is less
than “4”, write down “4”.
2.) Close the RLY cover first and screw 9 pcs of screws.
3.) Close Scan EMC Bracket and screw 4 pcs of screws.

Update the Assy Revision Number
1-2-1 Update the Assy Revision Number
RLY board should be updated the board revision number by revision edit utility in the diagnostic menu.

1.) Turn on the system and got into the Diagnostic mode
2.) Select the "LOGIQ5 Diagnostics" -> "User Diag Mode" -> "Edit Revision Number"

3.) Select the update button for RLY and type "4" as revision number and click "OK".

Replace the CPU for BEP1
If upgrade kit is for BEP2 (H41342LS), Skip this section (1-3) and move directly to Section 1-4.

NOTE: The purpose of CPU upgrade is performance enhancement.

1-3-1 CPU Upgrade procedure


Confirm the circuit breaker was shut off before CPU upgrade

1.) Open EMI L metal cover.


2.) Open BEP cover.
-Unscrew 7 screws in BEP metal cover. Refer to Figure 1-10.

3.) Unplug 2 connectors on motherboard. One is CPU power connector and the other is CPU Fan
power connector. See Figure 1-11.

4.) Remove the CPU Fan. The CPU Fan. The CPU fan have a lock handle and 4 hasps on each corner.
The fan was unlock by move the handle to opposite side. After unlock the handle and release the
4 hasps on each corner of fan

5.) Remove the CPU fan and P4 CPU as sequence in Figure 1-13.

6.) Install the 2GHz CPU which is included in the kit. The CPU and fan are enclosed in the CPU box.
Both CPU and fan should be installed carefully.

7.) CPU fan which is included in CPU Box should be installed also. The CPU and fan are enclosed in
the CPU box. Refer to Figure 1-15.

8.) After finish the CPU and Fan installation, plug the CPU power connector on the motherboard. This
CPU power connector have a tab for preventing mistake. Keep the housing tap direction to upper
direction. Refer Figure 1-16.

Verify the System Operation before software Installation
This procedure is for verification that hardware installation is correct. All of the hardware in this

upgrade kits have the backward compatibility. So old version of software should run on the

new hardware without any problem.

1.) Check following Basic scan function


-B mode image

-CFM Image

-PWD image

2.) If no problem in scan operation, install the new version of software, BT'03 version.
3.) If all function working properly, turn off the system and close all covers.

Before Starting Software Loading
2-2-1 Check BEP Type
1.) Turn ON the system
2.) Touch the Utility button on the Touch Panel

NOTE: Operator Login Window appears. Select adm(Administrator) for the Operator field.
Adm(Administrator) will be shown in the Operator field as default. Enter password which is
configured already ( or the password might not be necessary). Then click on Log on.

5.) Check Image Part Number is 2335079 Rev 7 or 2377598 Rev 0 and then confirm BEP type. Refer
Figure 2-4 on page 1-17 and Table 2-1.

Save As to View on any PC - Use this to save images (Dicom or Raw Dicom) in a computer-friendly
format (.avi or .jpeg) so you can view it on any PC.

Export/Import Data/Images Between Systems - Use this to copy both patient data and images for
specified patient(s) from one system to another.

2-2-5-1 Save As (Saving Images to CD-ROM to View on Any PC)


To save images to the CD-ROM:

1.) Insert the CD.


2.) Go to Utility --> Connectivity --> Tools. Select the Media as CD Rewritable.
3.) Press Format to format the CD-ROM.
4.) Select the image(s) to be saved to CD-ROM, press Menu, and select Save As.
5.) The SAVE AS menu appears.

6.) Specify Compression and Save As Type and press Save. The image is saved to the CD-ROM.
7.) When you have put all the images you want on the CD, press F3 to eject the CD-ROM. Select
CD Rewritable.

8.) Finalize the CD-ROM by selecting Yes. The CD-ROM is ejected from the system.

Storing Images with More Resolution

To store images with more resolution than is available with the JPEG selection, select Save As and
select AVI as the Save As Type. You can save single images as .avi files.

2-2-5-2 Export/Import (Moving Data Between Ultrasound Systems)


To move exams from one Ultrasound system to another, you need to export/import exam information.

NOTE: Both database information and images are exported. No data is deleted from the local archive
when exporting data.

Exporting Data

To export an exam(s) to a compatible Ultrasound system:

1.) Format the removable media (MOD or CD-ROM). Label the removable media. Answer Yes/OK
to the messages.
2.) Press Patient. Deselect any selected patient(s) in the search portion of the Patient screen.
Press More (located at the lower, right-hand corner of the Patient menu).
3.) Select Export. Specify the type of removable media (MOD or CD-ROM) on the Export pop-up.
Press OK. Then, please wait until the Patient menu is visible.

4.) In the patient list at the bottom of the Patient menu, select the patient(s) you want to export.
You can use Windows commands to select more than one patient.

To select a consecutive list of patients, click the cursor on the first name, move the cursor to
the last name, then press and hold down the Shift+right Set key to select all the names.

To select a non-consecutive list of patients, click the cursor at the first name, move the cursor
to the next name, then press and hold down the Ctrl+right Set key, move the cursor to the next
name, then press and hold down the Ctrl+right Set key again, etc.

You can also search for patients via the Search key and string.

Or, Select All from the Select All/Copy Patient Menu:

or loops, then only move a few patients at a time.

5.) Once you have selected all of the patients to export, press Copy Patient from the Select All/
Copy Patient Menu.
6.) Informational status messages appear as the copy is taking place. A final status report pop-up
message appears. Press OK.

7.) Press F3 to eject the media. Specify that you want to finalize the CD-ROM.

To import an exam(s) to another Ultrasound system:

1.) At the other Ultrasound system, insert the MOD or CD-ROM.


2.) Press Patient, press More, then Import. The Import from pop-up message appears. Press OK.

3.) The Patient menu just shows the patients available for import from the removable media you
just loaded onto the system.
4.) Select the patients to be imported.
5.) Press Copy Patient from the Select All/Copy Patient menu.
6.) Please wait for the patient information to be copied to this Ultrasound system. Informational
messages appear while the import is taking place.
7.) Press F3 to eject the media.

network and remove all transducers.

1.) Power ON the scanner.


2.) Press and hold the DEL key until the following screen appears.Enter jupiter as a password if the
system request a password, then press the Enter key.

3.) Using arrow keys, select Boot and verify that CDROM is selected as a First Boot Device.
4.) If it is not, select First Boot Device and press the Enter key using arrow keys. Then select CDROM

insert “Base System Software Load Image (BEP2)”.

8.) After restarting the system, when the following screen appears, press the Enter key to continue, to
abort remove the CD-ROM from the drive and press CTRL-C.

2-5-1-1 Application Upgrade Procedure


1.) Place the “Application Software” CDROM into the CDROM drive.
2.) Press the Start button on the tool bar at the bottom of the LCD screen and select “Run…”.
Enter “g:\LoadSoftware” into the dialog box as shown in Figure 2-48.

3.) You will see a screen that warns you that you are about to load software, press the Y key to
continue. Then the program requests confirmation “Are you sure ?”, Press the Y key again.

4.) You will see a Command (CMD) window open as shown in Figure 2-49.

5.) Press the "Y" key to continue. Then the program requests confirmation - "Are you sure?" then Press
the "Y" key again.
6.) The installation process will be started. it will take about 15 minutes.
7.) To apply the preset by region, select one of the below options. Refer to Figure 2-50.

8.) After the installation is completed the system will power off automatically.

NOTE: Some of systems doesn’t power off automatically. In this case, press and hold power button
more than 20 sec to power off.

NOTE: Do not operate with using mouse or keyboard during installation procedures.

9.) Turn on the system and immediately eject the button on the CD -R drive to eject the CDROM
10.)Verify that the system boots up no error.(It will take a few minutes)

Software Reload
1.) Turn ON the system and insert CD-ROM (LOGIQ5 R2.1.0 Application Software CD ).
2.) Following dialog box will be shown on the monitor as shown. Click on the Install SW. Refer to Figure
2-51 on page 1-46 .

3.) Following dialog window will be shown on the monitor. Press OK to continue. Refer to Figure 2-52
on page 1-46 .

NOTE: Click cancel button to go back to previous dialog box.

4.) The next dialog box will be shown on the monitor. Click on OK to continue. Refer to Figure 2-53 on
page 1-46 .

5.) Press the "Y" key to continue then program requests confirmation. "Are you sure ?" Press the "Y"
key again.Refer to Figure 2-54 on page 1-47 .

6.) If the system is checked out by VOLC, Service Platform will be uninstalled. It will take about 5 (five)
minutes. Following pop up dialogue will be shown as Figure 2-55 on page 1-47 .

NOTE: If the system is not checked out by VOLC, Step 6) and Step 7) are not executed.

7.) Before system shutting down, following pop up dialogue will be shown. Service Platform is
uninstalled, but S/W installation is NOT FINISHED YET. DO NOT REMOVE this SOFTWARE CD-
ROM in drive. Please PRESS [Install SW] button again to install S/W AFTER REBOOT. Otherwise
S/W will not work properly. Refer to Figure 2-56 on page 1-48 .

NOTE: The system will be shut-down after uninstall the Service platform. Repeat the process from the
first step again. From step 1 to 5, it is requested to be done twice.

8.) The Software installation program will start, and command screen will be shown. Procedures will
start automatically. It will take about 10 (ten) minutes
9.) Select your region for preset setting: 1. USA 2. Europe 3. Asia.

NOTE: Do not operate with using mouse or keyboard during installation procedures.

10.)After installation procedures are completed, the system will power OFF automatically.
11.)Turn ON the system and press EJECT button on the CD-RW drive to eject the CD-ROM.
12.)Plug in service dongle on the USB port and then confirm the light turns ON.

Standard Confirmation & Functional Checks
2-7-1 Confirmation of Software Version
1.) Touch the Utility button on the Touch Panel
2.) Click on About tab. The software version will be shown on the monitor as shown. Confirm the
following: Refer to Figure 2-57

3.) Make sure that Software Version: R2.1.0 and Software Part Number is described on the Application
CD-ROM.

Note: If the "Save" is NOT performed, you can NOT enter Patient screen and NOT perform Export/
Import

1.) Touch Utility-> Connectivity


2.) Operator Login Window appears. Select ADM(Administrator) for operator field.Click OK button

NOTE: Verify that Enable DHCP has no check mark, If Enable DHCP mark is checked, the system
cannot checkout by VOLC.

4.) Check if Computer Name, IP Address, Subnet Mask, and other parameters are proper
5.) Click on Save button
6.) Click OK for confirmation dialog box
7.) The system will power OFF automatically.
8.) Turn on the system for functional checks

2-7-3 Functional Checks for Software upgrade
1.) This hardware upgrade is for supporting of B flow and Coded harmonic functionality. But this
functions need B flow or CHA option also.
2.) If the B flow option is available, check the B flow function. The B flow function will working with 10L
or 7L probe. Connect the 10L or 7L probe to system and select “B flow” key on the keyboard when
B scan mode is active.
3.) If the Contrast option is available, check the CHA function. The CHA function will be working with
3.5C or 10L probe. Connect the 3.5C or 10L probe to system and select “Contrast” key on the
keyboard when B mode is active
4.) Check each probe in the following option and ensure that no problems are found
- B-Flow: 7L, 10L

- CHA: 3.5C(S), 10L

- CE: 12L, 8C, E8C, BE9C

- TAD: 3.5C(S)

- PI:3.5C(S), 10L

- CPI:3.5C(S)

2-7-4 Final Procedures


1.) After all peripherals have been installed, ensure that all cables are neatly and properly routed to the
system back and front panel. Use tiewraps, if necessary.
2.) Properly store excess cable in the back panel cavity behind the door.
3.) Remove the Right Cover and EMI Cover R to attach the Option Label onto the Nest Cover. Refer
to LOGIQ™ 5 Service Manual.

4.) Re-install the EMI Cover R and Right Side Cover. Refer to Components Replacement in Chapter 8,
LOGIQ™ 5 Service Manual.
5.) Fill out the proper customer information on the Product Locator Card. Mail the installation card
“Product Locator” to the address corresponding to your region. Refer to Figure 2-60.

NOTE: The Product Locator Card indicated in Figure 2-60 may be different from the actually provided
on.

6.) Properly dispose of any excess material in accordance with current GE Medical System policy.
7.) Once all peripherals are installed, ensure that the operation of the LOGIQ™ 5 is verified once again
by performing the functional checks. Refer to Functional Checks in Chapter 4, LOGIQ™ 5 Service
Manual.
8.) Ensure that each peripheral operates properly from the LOGIQ™ 5 keyboard, Touch Panel,
peripheral’s own front panel or remote controls. Inform the customer of proper peripheral operation.
9.) Keep this documentation with LOGIQ™ 5 Service Manual for feature reference.
This completes the installation of the option.
