(30 THEORY : 15 PRACTICAL)

1.0

BINOMIAL EXPANSION This topic requires mastery of binomial expansion through the normal algebraic process and the Pascal triangle. Determination of the approximation value for (a + b)n with binomial expansion is also discussed. SERIES This topic enables the student to understand the characteristics and use of Arithmetic Progression, Geometrical Progression and power series in solving problems. VECKTOR AND SCALAR This topic explains the basic operations of vector and scalar quantities including their use in solving problems. This topic also explains the method to determine the angle between two vectors as well as the characteristics of vector multiplication and triple scalar. PARTIAL FRACTION This topic discusses the process of converting fractional functions such as linear functions, repetitive linear and quadratic into partial fractions. TOPIC 5 FOR ELECTRICAL AND SHIPPING ENGINEERING.

LAPLACE TRANSFORM This topic introduces Laplace Transform for simple functions and inversion as well as its use in solving problems including differential equations. This topic also discusses the method to acquire the inverse Laplace Transform for step functions. TOPIC 6 FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING.

6.0

NON-LINEAR EQUATION This topic explains analytical geometry specifically for exponential functions, circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas. The skill to identify the characteristics as well as sketching graphs of non-linear equations is also emphasized upon.
