Abstract:

Wireless security system is a project based on the idea that a simple and reliable security system can be created with knowledge in programming and hardware interfacing. The main purpose of this project is to apply all the knowledge we gained in this four year engineering course, understand the wireless network, use of OOP in real life application, utilization of microprocessor/microcontroller. What we aim with this project is that system can be implemented without customization. Using various hardware like motion sensors, magnetic card reader and JAVA based software platform, this security system will be able to provide reliable real-time security. We intend the package will be useful in highly sensitive areas where security must be provided 24/7.

Introduction

Nowadays, the entire world is going through hard times due to inflation and monetary problems. Emergence of Inflation in the world economy has caused bankruptcy, shortage of Basic necessities of Life. In such context, the rate of crime has increased many folds during the last decades. Hence out of desperation and misery, certain people opt to robbery or theft. Many homes are being theft and Banks and financial organizations are being robbed, as can be seen in News channels. Moreover, employee of the corresponding organization is also found to be involved in the robbery and servants in home are also involved in such criminal activities of theft of precious objects. There is a need of security system which can be used to detect the unauthorized handling of the concerned objects or unauthorized entrance of the personnel to some unauthorized place. In todays scenario our project Wi Security helps ordinary peoples to have a private and ever alert security guard, which until now was unreachable for this level of living standard. Using various sensors, a computer system, a very attractive JAVA interface, the system will be secure and affordable. All the feeds from the sensors, the network and software activity will be logged using database and the java front end makes the package very desirable, user friendly and highly secure.

Objective

Taking Security system to general people To encourage people to use security system which will help catch the criminals To keep record of entrance and leaving of personnel in concerned room. Minimizing the use of cables by using wireless connectivity. Providing a simple interface to the end user

Scope
Homes, event arenas, public places, where security must be very high must be implemented with some kind of security system which could capture the foul activity and bring them to justice. A secure neighborhood will imply secure country. Since we are targeting the working class of the underdeveloped country without knowledge to a computer system, simple crash course on how to use the front-end software will even make a layman expert system user.

Current Status of Art

Existing security system requires installation of wires and cables to respective detectors and sensors and takes lots of time to be fully operational. Even though wired approach of security is suitable for newly built homes, since installation process of laying wires are relatively easy. But this approach isnt suitable for old homes. Installation of wires is a messy business and hard to maintain although security in wired approach is relatively high.

Application

Our project will be very effective in the context of Nepal, since nepali homes are not constructed with routes for cables to be added later .We can use it in home, college, office or any other place where there is threat of theft. This project uses wireless connectivity of wifi between different devices, so it can be used in places where cable connections are not possible. It is also easy to install so can be used anywhere. Hence, security can be ensured over wide Area.

Methodology

Sensors/Swipe card:
Sensors detects movements in/out of the entrance Reads the information of the card found on the magnetic strip.

Microcontroller:

microcontroller convert between functional data and transmittable data.

Wireless Transmitter and Receiver:

The two wireless transmitter and receiver units are used to transmit and receive signals wirelessly between the devices.

PC and Processor:

Computer that has a database saved on it. It receives the data from the card swipe then processes it. It sends back a signal if the card swipe data is in the database.

Components required
Sensors(IR)/swipe card box Microcontroller Wireless Units Computer

Software SQL Server JAVA

Timeline
We will start project as per the given schedule and hope so far to complete the project at most before the deadline. To complete our project efficiently and before the deadline, we have divided the workload equally among our team members. We have decided to give more priority to research, designing, coding, testing and debugging because they are the major building blocks of any project. Once these phases are handled carefully, there will be less chances of occurrence of bugs and errors.
