Statement on Self-Interest Searching Opportunists Under the Name of ALD(Exile)Malaysia

Sr.ALD[Malaysia]0025/11 Date:18th June 2011 1.Arakan League for Democracy(ALD)is a political party that was established in September 1989 with view to terminating authoritarian regime in Burma and to establish a genuine federal union through which we Arakanese can enjoy our losing racial rights.
2.ALD is ,to nation width, the third most supported political party that enjoyed Eleven Parliament Seats in the Multi-party general election held on 27th May 1990 next to NLD and SNLD parties. 3.Due to its objection to obey the unfair laws and orders of Burman Military Council and strong bitter objection to the so-call National Convention, ALD was declared illegal political party, tens of MPs were arrested ,tortured and punished long imprisonment by the Military Regime. 4.The rest MPs had to flee to neighbor countries and establish exile branches amid serious ties and challenges with aim to continuing to carry out national political process. 5.ALD(Exile)Malaysia was established on 10th May 2001 and promoted its alliance relations with all racial communities and has kept on its political processes. On the one hand it has joined UHNCR Office and other NonGovernmental Organizations in Malaysia so that it can help Arakanese refugees solve their daily challenges. On the other hand it has been endeavoring to its best to formulate solid genuine Arakan unity by means of hands and hands with other Arakanese communities. 6.At the time of this successful circumstance, we sorrowfully hear that some opportunists are abusing our exile branch name ,persuading and cheating the people who includes not only Arakanese but also other races of money giving persuasive promise to issue them UNHCR card. We also hear that fake of ALD member cards are also issued pretending themselves as one of Members of Executive Committee of ALD(Exile)Malaysia.

7.ALD(Exile)Malaysia has not stood as a puppet community under any NGO but only has stood only with Arakanese financial support .It is a public based political party that has helped Arakanese people solve challenges since its establishment.Its motto is Never Ask what you can get for yourself from your party but ask what you can give your people. Our office has been helping people with peoples support. 8.This kind of fake is being shamelessly and systematically committed for the sake of personal and organizational interest. This action also means a great insult to the partys dignity and creation of undesirable misunderstanding and depression between our exile branch and its partners such as UNHCR and other racial alliances. 9.Our ALD(Exile)Malaysia has never formed its sub-branches and has not appointed its agents to persuade and cheat people of money in favour of UNHCR card since its establishment up to now. We strongly condemn such kind of shameful abuse for personal interest and are going to bring any suspect to light to the best of our ability.
