    PARACETAMOL DRUG Generic Name: Paracetamol INDICATION ACTION CONTRAINDICATION  Contraindicate d in patients hypersensitive to drug  Use cautiously in patients

    with long term alcohol use because therapeutic doses cause hepatotoxicity in these patients. ADVERSE REACTION  GI: Hepatic failure, hepatotoxicity (overdose)  GU: renal failure (high doses/chronic use).  Hematologic: neutropenia, pancytopenia, leukopenia. hemolytic anemia SIDE EFFECTS  CNS: Drowsiness, headache  Skin: rash, urticaria. NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES  Check the doctors order and medication card.  Prepare medications for the right patient, right route, right dosage and at the right time.  Explain procedure to the patient.  Check first the temperature before giving the medicine and after 15-30 mins  Administer with a full glass of water. May be taken with food or on an empty stomach  Give the drug with food if GI upset occurs.  Discontinue drug if hypersensitivity reaction occurs.

     Symptomatic  Used for relief of pain and the relief fever. of fever, headache s, and Classificatio n: Antipyretic other minor aches and Sub pains. Classificatio n: Non- opiod analgesic Dose: 300 mg. Frequency: q4 PRN x Fever Form: Tablet Route: PO
