A) Minimum Qualifications for Eligibility A candidate for admission to the Ph.D programme must have obtained any one of the following academic qualifications in the discipline of research or a subject allied thereto (the alliance will be decided by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the respective Board of Studies) at the Masters degree (M.Tech/M.E., MBA, MCA, M.A, M.Sc., etc. other than M.Phil) level from a recognized University: (i) At least 60% marks with First class or equivalent CGPA at the Masters Degree level; (ii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Masters Degree level followed by the degree of M.Phil with course work. (iii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Masters Degree level with at least three years teaching experience in the subject concerned in a recognized College/University/Institute; OR at least three years experience on supervisory executive positions in Industry/business house. (iv) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Masters Degree level and the candidate has also qualified the UGC/CSIR-NET, GATE, SLET etc. (v) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Masters Degree level if the candidate has been selected as Junior/Senior Research Fellow in a research project sanctioned by UGC, CSIR, ICSSR or any other govt. body to the University or its Institutes. (vi) In the case of NRI/Foreign candidates, at least 55% marks in the qualifying examinations of Masters Degree in the relevant discipline. However, the candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any foreign University, will have to submit equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. B) Examination Procedure (i) Tests / Questions shall be different for each discipline of the programme (ii) Test will cover all the core / compulsory subjects in the relevant Master Level degree. Written test would aim at judging the depth of knowledge and potential to do research work. C) Format of PhD. Admission Test Question Paper (i) Duration : 3 Hours (ii) Full Marks : 100 (iii) All questions have to be answered. (iv) Entrance Test - The Entrance Test shall have the following four components: a) Research Methodology (weightage 30%) b) Functional English Language (weightage 15%) c) Functional Knowledge of Computer (weightage 15%) d) Respective Subject Content (weightage 40%) - The nature of the Test shall be MCQ type. - The component (a) shall have questions on testing containing (i) analytical ability, (ii) reasoning ability (iii) research aptitude and (iv) research related information. Each sub-component shall have equal weightage. - Questions in components (b) and (c) shall pertain to functional skills aiming at testing the basic knowledge of the candidate. - Component (d) shall be based on the syllabi of core courses /papers studied at Masters Level in the concerned subject. D) Written test for eligible candidates only will be followed by a personal interview for short listed candidates only. E) Fees Payable by the Ph.D. student (1) Admission Form & Processing fees: Rs.750/-. (2) Registration fee to be paid (once): Regular Students Rs.2,500/- and SC/ST Rs.1500 /-.
