General mounting and security advises

To avoid optical interferences (fog, condensate) the TitanPower Plus-SU2 collector must be mounted at an angle between 35 and 90 degrees. For the collector warranty to apply this must be applied.

Statics: An adequate load capacity of the roof construction must be taken for granted because the connection parts are fixed to the roof structure. In case of specific loads, high wind and/or snow pressures the valuation of an expert has to be obtained. Please observe the local codes and rules for roof installations.

Lightning protection: All metallic parts of the solar system must be connected to the ground by a copper cable with an area of at least 16mm2 (AWG 5). If lightning protection is already in place the collector system can be connected directly to it.

Protection against dirt and injury: Never carry collectors at the pipe ends. Keep dry and clean! Dont store collectors outdoors!

Rinsing, filling and maintenance: During installation and setup of the collectors keep them covered to prevent damages. Please consider the national rules and manufacturer instructions for the use of glycol. Use only water-glycol mixtures that are appropriate for solar thermal systems.

Operating parameters, maintenance: The recommended operating pressure should be in a range between 36.3 and 43.5 PSI. The volumetric flow rate is suggested between 5.28 and 18.5 gallons per 10.76 square feet and hour. Highest approved working pressure is 47 PSI. Solar collectors are usually maintenancefree but the solar system should be checked for damages and irregularities yearly by a solar thermal installer. Transport and handling: Carry collectors with the glass side facing up. Dont damage the pipe ends. Dont throw any materials at the glass plate and be careful to the glass edges. Never touch pipes in case of solar radiation because this can cause burnings. General: The references shown make no pretence on completeness. In all cases you must comply with the national rules for mounting, installing and operation of a solar system.

Installing Free-Standing Mounting Hardware

Step 1: Build the Triangles Step 2: Attaching the T-Profile Rails and Lateral Supports Step 3: Installing the Panel(s) Step 4: Connecting the Universal Connection Set

Page 6

Step 1: Building the Triangles

a. Connect Angle Adapter K02 to the end of the 7ft Support Rail using M8x22mm bolts. Use the chart on page 6 to achieve desired tilt angle. b. Connect the 5ft Back leg to the Angle Adapter K02 using a clamping plate and M8x22mm bolts. Makes sure the sliding block channel faces rear of frame. c. Attach the first T-Profile Clamp at the top end of the 7ft Support Rail using a sliding block and a M8x25mm bolt. Connect the second T-Profile Clamp toward the other end, so that the outside distance measures 82 1/2 inches (2095.5mm) and each clamp is facing each other. d. Attach the L-Bracket feet to the bottoms of each rail using clamping plates and M8x22mm bolts. e. Mount the triangles to your structure, so that they are spanned no more than 40 inches apart. f. For lateral support, attach the L-Sections between each 5ft leg using sliding blocks and M8x14mm bolts. g.

Step 2: Mounting the T-Profile Rails

a. Position the T-Profile Rails, so that they are evenly spaced along the Triangles. b. Slide grooved portion of the first T-Profile Rail into the upper clamp and tighten. Follow the same procedure for the lower T-Profile Rail, making sure the triangles and T-Profile rails stay square. c. In larger arrays, it is necessary to connect multiple T-Profile rails. Use the Connector for T-Profile rail.

Step 3: Installing the panel(s)

a. b. c. d. Remove the 4 Hex bolts and washers from the ends of each solar panel. Position panel(s) in between T-Profile rails. This may require some minor adjustments for a snug fit. Fasten the first panel to the T-Profiles using the Hex bolts and washers. Slide the next panel in position and connect the panels together using an appropriate wrench. Do not to forget to include the graphite washer between the fittings. e. Once all the collectors are joined together, fasten them to the T-Profiles using the Hex bolts and washers.

Installing Tilt Mounting Hardware

Step 1: Plotting Mounting Coordinates Step 2: Mounting Roof Hooks Step 3: Building Triangles Step 4: Mounting Triangles to the Roof Hooks Step 5: Attaching the T-Profile Rails and Lateral Supports Step 6: Installing the Panel(s) Step 7: Connecting the Universal Connection Set Step 1: Plotting Mounting Coordinates
a. Decide the best position for the collector array based on shading, aesthetics, wind factors, etc. b. Determine your collector field length using the chart on page 3 c. Taking the rafters in consideration, mark the collector field length on the roof where the top rail will be installed. A standard chalk line should work well. Be sure to mark a level line for aesthetics. d. Measure down the roof 79.41 inches (2017mm) from the upper line and mark a second line parallel to the first. These two lines represent where each roof hook will be aligned and installed. e. Choose the position for your first roof hook.

79.41 inches

Do Not exceed 48

Page 13

Step 2: Attaching the Roof Hook to the Roof

*Roof hooks must be installed no more than 48 apart along each rail*
a. Locate the first rafter and place the roof hook on the roof. Loosen the shingle above the roof hook and temporarily set the flashing in place. This is to make sure the placement of the roof hook is accommodating. b. Using the Simpson Strong Drive screws, fasten the roof hook atop the shingle. There is no need to predrill holes. c. Once again, loosen the shingle above and move flashing in place. There is no need to fasten the flashing down with roofing nails, but using roofing caulk is optional. d. Repeat steps 1a through 1c making sure not to exceed 48 spans.
Roof Hooks represent an essential component of our universal roof mounting hardware. If installed correctly, the roof hook flashing system provided by SunMaxx Are waterproof Are in compliance with all codes put forth by the National Roofing Contractors Association Are secure against insects and vermin Are capable of supporting TitanPower Plus-SU2 or ThermoPower VHP collectors at all recommended tilt angles Will not reduce fire resistance below code Will isolate roof and construction materials from the high temperatures generated by the collector array

In cases where the flashing does not fit under the above shingle, it may be necessary to notch out the shingle.

Step 3: Building the Triangles

a. Connect Angle Adapter K02 to the end of the 7ft Support Rail using M8x22mm bolts. Use the chart on page 6 to achieve desire tilt angle. b. Connect the 5ft Back leg to the Angle Adapter K02 using a clamping plate and M8x22mm bolts. c. Attach the first T-Profile Clamp at the top end of the 7ft Support Rail using a sliding block and a M8x25mm. Connect the second T-Profile Clamp toward the other end, so that the outside distance measures 82 and 1/2 inches (2095.5mm) and each clamp is facing each other. d. Attach the L-Bracket feet to the bottom of the 7ft Support Rail using clamping plates and M8x22mm bolts.
