ANTIGONIGHT: ART AFTER DARK APPLICATION FORM Submission Deadline: July 15, 2011 September 23 and 24, 2011,

are the dates for the second annual Antigonight: Art After Dark, presented by Antigonish Culture Alive. A two-evening festival for all the arts, Antigonight immerses festival-goers in an environment where they can join in dancing, singing, music-making, theatre, painting, ceramics, printmaking, fibre arts, story telling and sculpture production, mostly outdoors where the night sky is part of the events. September 23 will see the Peoples Place Library feature videos from local filmmakers, with shorts and perhaps a longer film from the National Film Board. The library walls will showcase art by children from our public schools. On September 24, the festival will take over Chisholm Park and surrounding area for an evening of magic. Antigonight will spill through Chisholm Park, around the Post Office, into the ASAP space at the Alaya Chan Centre and along the river into Peoples Place Library and its garden. Antigonight offers everyone of all ages and abilities an opportunity to participate in the arts; there is something for everyone. Venue: Chisholm Park has limited infrastructure. You will be on lawns and gravel paths, parking lot pavement or in the gazebo, as you choose and demand permits. Tents or canopies will provide shelter against weather. Power and light can be provided to each tent to meet artists needs. A sound system will be available at two sites. The park gazebo, roughly 3 x 3 m plus stairs on 4 sides, is also available and has power. Peoples Place Library and the ASAP space will be available for projects that must be guaranteed a dry environment (e.g., printmaking). Guidelines Artists agree to create a temporary, site-specific project located in a public space, available free of charge to the public on September 24th between 6:30 and c. 10:30 pm. Video/films are planned for Peoples Place Library on the evening of September 23. Projects must be installed and exhibited in a safe manner and abide by all by-laws and laws. Please provide a 100 word description of your project to include in the event program and web site.
