GeoRes SubSea System

GeoRes SubSea System Configuration

Basic Un-Armored Retrievable GeoRes SubSea System Component Description
Sensor Array Cable (SA Cable) Each SA cable consists of several four component sensor modules (stations) integrated into a cable assembly at the required station spacing. Station spacing may be 25 , 50 or 75 meters. Typical cable lengths are 1.2 to 3.6Km. The cables have dry-mate connector plugs installed at each end. It is recommended that the dry mate connector plugs are located one half of the station spacing from the nearest module, allowing the cables to be reversible. Longer cable lengths may be assembled using SA Cable back to back connectors between sections. SA Cables are terminated at their far end with an SA Cable terminator or alternatively connected in a loop returning to the central recorder for additional redundancy. Control Umbilical Cable The Control Umbilical cable is an armored or un-armored cable containing six electrical conductors and four fibers. It can be terminated at each end with a GERI Dry mate plug. Umbilical cables can be manufactured in continuous lengths up to 8km. Longer lengths can be joined with DryMate splices . GeoRes Imagine Topside Central Electronics The GeoRes Imagine Topside (HC) central electronics transmits commands and receives data from the SubSea electronics. Data received from the SubSea system is transferred to disks, tapes or RAIDs for storage. The GeoRes Imagine has an accurate Master Clock and entire system timing can be synchronized to GPS clock. A GPS Receiver is built into the unit and a GPS antenna provided which can be mounted on a mast or other suitable location. The GeoRes software can perform analysis of test data from the modules, display and record the results. The system continuously checks the status of SubSea system in real-time. The entire top side electronics can be set for unmanned operations and remote controlled via a secure IP connection. System Interface Panel The System Interface Panel is a topside unit that is the interface between the GeoRes Imagine and the SubSea system. The unit is scaleable in the number of data receivers and command transmitters which may be either electrical of fiber optic telemetry inputs. The unit also may be configured with surface digitization channels (AUX Channel) and interfaces source synchronization equipment and navigation equipment. Data Storage The data storage system is typically 10 Terabyte RAID storage used for primary or backup storage of seismic data. Other sizes and multiple Data storage systems are available. Power Supply Unit The power supply unit contains the power supply controller which allows configuration and status monitoring of the power supplies and power supplies providing DC Voltage for one SA Cable. The system is compatible with either 110 or 220 VAC. Cable Terminator The SA Cable terminator is used at the end of all single-ended SA Cables. It provides an attachment point for a shackle for lifting and lowering of the cable end. The SA Cable Terminator is also available in loopback version to allow telemetry redundancy around the end of a single cable. Back to Back Connector The SA Cable Back to Back is used to connect individual SA Cables together to form longer sections. It has two GERI Dry-Mate receptacles integrated into a single titanium housing.
