Project Background
ADB approved Loan 2429-VIE on 26 June 2008 for $196 2429million, which became effective on 16 January 2009. 2009. The Project consists of the construction of 156 megawatt (MW) hydropower plant on the Song Bung in the Vu Gia-Thu GiaBon river basin. basin. The Project is located in Nam Giang district of Quang Nam province in central Viet Nam and its predominantly inhabited by indigenous people belonging to the Co Tu ethnic minority. minority. The Project will result in the relocation of 224 mainly Co Tu households in Zuoih commune of Nam Giang district. district. Situation of Co Tu Women
All the four reservoir affected villages and the host village consist almost entirely of Co Tu ethnic minority people with an own culture and language. language.
