Empowered villagers shopping in a lighted market area, having a group get together and studying at home. We generate about Rs. 40,000 in revenue per village and give up to Rs. 100,000 back to the community in employment, procurement of raw materials for construction and operations, and savings on Kerosene and Diesel costs. Increased lighting has also indirectly helped the community by increasing the business hours in the market area, reducing thefts, improving health conditions (no snakebites etc) and encouraging new business developments like computer shops and photo studios Low cost prepaid meters that can efficiently regulate the flow of low watt electricity and reduces electricity theft to less than 5%
