The RFID technique helped us to identify floating bottle necks, improve the workflow, keep a track of the WIP, draw a current state value stream map and identify the non value added time. Motivated the workers and implemented 5S in all the work stations, this reduced the number of accidents and improved the throughput by 23%

Improve the flow of products and materials by decreasing cycle times and eliminating bottlenecks. Conduct optimization and capacity analysis to drive improvement products and support new business. Eliminate waste through the application of lean practices throughout the enterprise. Identify and eliminate causes of equipment downtime. Improve material handling in the plants and warehouses. Reduce waste motion through the proper design of the work environment. Demonstrate a daily commitment to the Continuous Improvement Process and practice the "Basic Principles." Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. Develop and implement plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods. Assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.

Implemented office lean too

Designed a checklist to identify the feasibility of producing a product, this aided in reducing the time taken for Decision making process by 75%. Drew a value stream map for the paper processing processes, identified the repeating and unwanted processes to be eliminated. The Raw Processing time reduced by 30% per day. Implemented 5S marking in conference room and office workspace, this reduce time delay Reduced the batch size of files being moved though the table to achieve Kanban Aug 2007- Feb 2008

Koch-Glitsch and Wichita State University, Wichita, KS.(Graduate Research Assistant)

Designed an Ergonomically better work area, negotiated the changes to be implemented between the management and the workers. These changes were designed logically by collecting Ergonomic data for identifying potential risk factors in the structured packing area. Conduct Video Analysis, which helped us in assessing risk factors and designing potential interventions.

Data Analysis was performed on Ergo Intelligence software package. Interventions were implemented and the implemented interventions were re-analyzed for neglecting the odds After implementing the changes a forecast of 63% reduction in WMSD was found using the Vibration data Analysis Improved the work standards Achieved OSHA standards Aug 2006 Aug 2007

M/s.Karthick Pumps, Coimbatore, India.(Manufacturing Engineer Intern)

Directly involved in the installation and successful implementation of new machinery, test equipment, inspection equipment and automation for machining and assembling a Mono block pump and manufacturing a 1 hp motor. Achieved 1 hp motor production volume while obtaining 10 % lower manufacturing cost than anticipated, along with world-class quality. The 1 hp motor was so successful; that it eliminated the need for purchasing it out side.

Promoted and participated in multifunctional continuous improvement teams that improved assembly and machining quality and productivity. Selected analytical techniques to resolve production issues and worked with product design. Proven hands-on experience in successfully managing process-engineering activities for the 1 hp mono block pump Assisted with third party and internal audits Designed and implemented a 5S program Designed and implemented gage traceability program Performed product inspections Calibrated and repaired gages Authored and implemented procedures and work instruction Programmed and operated CMM Performed Corrective Actions, Liaison between Quality and Manufacturing Performed in-process and final inspections Assisted with PPAPs Assisted with gage calibrations and repairs May 2005 Jun

Ashok Leyland Private Ltd, Chennai, India(Production Engineer Intern) 2006 A reduced lead time of 70 minutes per day in the dispatch of materials to customers was achieved

Projects

Modeled a current state value stream map of the heavy vehicle chassis assembly line Improved capacity of bottleneck operations by 20% from 36,000 units to 45,000 units per year Reduced tool consumption cost by 32% with a recurring annual saving of $12,000 per year Designed tools, jigs and fixtures and have hands on experience in CNC machining Prepared standardized worksheets(SOP), productivity charts and evaluated production against order forecast

Shockerplant, Simulated Aircraft Manufacturing Industries, Wichita State University Identified the resources given, calculated and forecasted demand for the future weeks and met the production requirements in accordance to the forecast. Found the push-pull boundary and reduced the floating of bottlenecks. The project fetched a total profit approximately $500,000 for a period of 12 weeks Design of Experiments We selected seven factors after care full consideration. A cause and effect diagram was draw based on operators experience and also based on the maintenance data of the machine. The experiments were conducted and data was analyzed using the stat ease software the analyzed data was then checked for normality and other assumptions made while considering the ANOVA. After the ANOVA assumptions were satisfied model graphs were drawn and studied the results showed us that the influence of X axis, y axis, B axis and tool vendor on the variation in hole diameter. Thus we concluded that the variation in the hole diameter is influenced by the four factors. Further experiments need to be conducted considering the four factors and the effect of the same in the variation in hole diameter. Also further experiments need to be conducted

Koch-Glitsch and Wichita State University, Wichita, KS. (Ergonomics) Vibrations of frequency and force levels were found to be the significant influences on force recall accuracy. A causal relationship between force recall accuracy and the biodynamic response of the hand and arm system, with respect to vibration, exists within each user. The results showed the force recall errors are small at higher grip/push force levels. From this it is evident that higher vibration frequencies appear to cause more damage to the muscles, this also causes more damage to ligaments and tendons. The use of anti-vibration gloves or impact reduction gloves only shows effectiveness within certain frequencies during usage. The size of the handle, along with the material type, has an effect on the vibration absorbed and dampening is lowered. Kaman Aerostructures and Wichita State University, Wichita, KS(Lean Engineering) In short term we proposed the implementation of better data tracking by implementing a database system and three scanners at three different stages. We have done a cost effect analysis and found that the return on investment would be in 18.92 months. We also eliminated some process that did not add value, adding to this we also introduced the effective method of communications. The numbers of processes were reduced from 20 to 17. Supply Chain Optimization From a research perspective, we identified and compared different types of contracts, how companies make use of them, the contracts pros and cons as well as risks that incurred. Information sharing is a vital part of a successful supply chain and when the amount of information to be shared is integrated into the contracts, efficiency and safety for all parties may be obtained, increasing profits. Implementation of Radio Frequency Identification Techniques for Lean Manufacturing Suggested methodologies to employ RFID techniques in manufacturing process, developed a RFID transmitter, RFID receiver and a LabVIEW application to do a time study, the Tamil Nadu State Government granted fund to do this project. Course works Lean Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Design of Experiments, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Statistics for Engineers, Engineering Economy, Ergonomic Assessment Methods, Statistical Quality Control and Production Systems Engineering.
