Driggers Days

Partnering with Wycliffe and You July 2011

Better Than Bugs

In any stretch of your imagination, could eating bugs be a sweet experience? In Papua New Guinea, after the first rains of the monsoon season, the muna (moona) bugs erupt from the earth. Excited children run around, bat the now airborne snacks to the ground, collect them in containers and hurry home to fry them. Just as this food sounds strange and distasteful to us, the Word of God can sound strange and unappetizing to those who hear it in an unfamiliar language. Translating it into the heart language of the people and teaching them how to use it is the vision we share with Wycliffeto present Gods Love Letter as sweet and nourishing. How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey! Psalm 119:103 NLT Our family has enjoyed many new experiences during the month of June. No fried muna bugs for the Driggers (yet), but the Lord has kept us on our toes with preparations for our future. We have spent the last two weeks of June staying with Saras parents and Martys parents as we await the repair of the air conditioning unit in our home. We praise the Lord for many new memories with grandparents that would not have been made without the current circumstances. We will always look back on these memories with fond thoughts. God is good even when He catches us off guard! For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8 NLT With that said, we want to share with you what the Lord has done for our financial support during the past month. First, God has met each of our immediate needs through many generous one-time gifts! Praise Him! Secondly, we prayed for 60% (and still know that He is able) but our timeline, as it seems, is not what God has intended for us. Our monthly support is currently pledged at 34%. We give all glory to God for the beautiful people He is raising up in our lives to join with us in furthering Bible translation in Papua New Guinea. During the month of June our financial team has grown from 23 partners to 38. However, we cannot leave for Papua New Guinea until we have completed cultural training. For now we are asking the Lord to help us find partnership for the additional 16% of our budget, so we can attend the August cultural training course. Our ability to leave for Papua New Guinea this year depends on this training, because it is not offered again until January. If God is leading you to partner with us and you havent responded as of yet, please know that our need is urgent and the time is now! There is no gift too small when God is in it. Trusting Him,

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him! Psalm 34:8 NLT
