2007 Acquisitions Cadbury Schweppes agrees to acquire Intergum, a Turkish gum business, for US $ 450 million. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approval by the Turkish Competition Board, is expected to complete in the third quarter of 2007. This is a valuable marketing technique as growing pressure on women sees them look for a moment of indulgence and pleasure in an otherwise hectic and stressful day. Business agreements The bottled water company Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation has entered into a distribution arrangement with Seven-Up/RC Bottling Company of Southern California. Beginning on April 1st, Seven-Up/RC will distribute the Clearly Canadian sparkling flavoured water line-up to all points of distribution in its Southern California, Southern Nevada and New Mexico markets

Distribution & logistics Cadbury Schweppes agrees a US$166 million 5-year deal with New York City to supply its schools and local Government buildings with soft drinks vending machines. Cadbury India joins with telecommunications technology companies BPL Mobile and E Cube India to launch 30 pilot chocolate vending machines in Mumbai (Bombay) operated by mobile handsets. Divestments and demergers In France the company is selling seasonal chocolate subsidiary SEAC (Societe Europeene d'Assortiments de Chocolats) to Cmoi. Environmental profile Cadbury Schweppes is investigating consumer reactions to new biodegradable packaging in Australia, before deciding whether to replicate the technology in Europe. Rising consumer and governmental concerns are making it essential for businesses to explore environmentally-friendly packaging alternatives. The Indian arm of Cadbury Schweppes says that samples of chocolate from its factories in the western Indian state of Maharashtra have been found free of any infestation after state health officials that they found insects in the companys Dairy Milk chocolate at a retail outlet in Bombay. Product launches Snapple is introducing its new meal replacement beverage...Snapple-a-Day, in three fruit flavours. In the US the company's Dr Pepper/Seven Up subsidiary is launching a new flavoured dairy drink from March. The Raging Cow brand comes in plastic bottles and unusual flavour combinations and is aimed at young adults. Subsidiary Motts has launched an energy drink called Clamato Energia, which will be targeted at the Hispanic population. Cadbury Schweppes launches Royal Crown Cola in Delhi and parts of the north Indian states of Punjab and Haryana following a "soft-launch" in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and central Madhya Pradesh. Restructuring The company's West African operations have been reorganised, with production moving from Ghana to Nigeria, in order to take advantage of tax rebates. 2002 Acquisitions The company has agreed to acquire Pfizer's confectionery unit Adams for US$4.2 billion. The deal is expected to close in spring 2003. The company has agareed to buy Brau und Brunnen's 72% interest in the Apollinaris & Schweppes joint venture in Germany for 97 million. The transaction includes the Apollinaris, Heppinger and Big Apple brands and gives Cadbury Schweppes 100% control of Apollinaris & Schweppes. Apollinaris & Schweppes was formed in 1991, merging the business interests and assets of Schweppes GmbH (28%) and Apollinaris Brunnen AG (72%). Turkish subsidiary Kent Gida is to buy out Chupa Chups's stake in the Russian joint venture, Chupa Chups Kent. The Monkhill Confectionery division of UK subsidiary Trebor Basset is to acquire foodservice popcorn company Kernels Snack Products. Cadbury Schweppes plc is to purchase Squirt, a major soft drinks brand in Mexico, from Refremex AG for an undisclosed sum. The transaction has been granted regulatory approval and is expected to close at the end of February. Cadbury Schweppes acquires Danish company Dandy. Cadbury Schweppes Plc announced that it had agreed to acquire a minimum 51% equity interest in Kent, a Turkish sugar confectionery manufacturer. This stake was increased to 65% later in the year. confectionery. Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc, announces launch of Caffeine Free Sundrop due to consumer demand. Red Fusion will become the first new flavour addition to the Dr Pepper brand when it is launched in the US in mid-July. In the UK Cadbury launches two functional variants of chocolate bar Boost, one with Guarana and one with Glucose stimulants. To add a new soft drink to its 7-Up range in the autumn. It will be green in colour rather than clear and contain caffeine which 7-Up does not. Underlining that it will be an alternative version of 7-up, it is to be called dnL, literally an upside-down version of the 7-up name. In the UK Cadbury has launched a Mighty Mini range of miniature biscuit bags. Restructuring French subsidiary, La Pie Qui Chante, is planning to close its plant at Wattignies, near Lille, in northern France, in the next year. 2001 Acquisitions Cadbury Schweppes acquires Argentinian confectionery brand Mantecol, from Georgalos Hnos SAICA for US$22.6 million. In October, the Group completed the acquisition of Pernod Ricards soft drinks brands and businesses in Continental Europe, North America and Australia. In July, the Group acquired La Casera in Spain from the Iberian Beverages Group for a consideration of 72 million. In January, the Group completed the acquisition of Slush Puppie Corporation in the US. The company has acquired Carlyon's snack bar business in Australasia, including the Mother Earth brand. Advertising & marketing Chocolate brand Snow Flake has been relaunched in the UK after it was removed from shelves when the company was unable to keep up with demand. The company is launching a global advertising campaign for the generic 'Cadbury' brand name. It is the first time the company has chosen to advertise 'Cadbury' rather than individual brands. Corporate Summary
Principally focused on confectionery and non-alcoholic beverages, Cadbury Schweppes is a global company. Operationally, the company was divided into four main divisions EMEA, Asia Pacific, Americas Confectionery and, formerly, Americas Beverages. Almost 50% of revenue comes from the Americas, particularly beverages (30%), while almost 40% comes from EMEA and almost 20% from Asia Pacific. The company recently sold its European Beverages business in order to focus on growing its beverages business in the Americas and Australia. In addition, Cadbury Schweppes recently combined its three North American businesses into a single unit to better leverage the companys soft drinks brand portfolio. Cadbury Schweppes owns several strong multi-regional and regional brands.
