Professor, 70th Orientation Programme Academic Staff College, Gujarat University 18th June 2011 To, The Coordinator 70th Orientation Programme Academic Staff College Gujarat University Sub: Chairperson Report of the day (70th Orientation Programme) Respected Sir, I, Vitthalbhai P. Patel am a participant of the 70th Orientation Programme (30th May to 26th June 2011) organized by Academic Staff College, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. My roll number is 17. As per the tradition of the orientation programme, I was assigned a chairpersonship of the day on 18th June 2011, Saturday. Herewith I am submitting a chairperson report of the day. The day was started with tea and snacks at 9:00 in the morning. The first session was started at 9:30 by Dr. Satishbhai Shukla, Associate Professor in Department of Education Gujarat University. The topic of the discussion was Information Technology in Education. Dr. Shukla discussed how Information Technology is used especially in research in education field. In the beginning of the session we were informed about different types of research, subsequently the session was developed on the use of Information Technology in the field of research in education. With the help of examples we were taught how to find t-value at the time of analysis of the collected numerical data during research. During this session we were taught different formulas to be used in excel sheet for errorless analysis of the data. All the participants of our class enjoyed the session. After the break, the second session of the day was handled by Dr. Dinanath Sharma, one of the Associate Professors of Prakrut Department of School of Languages, Gujarat University. He was a learned personality having a good profile. His topic of discussion was Indian Languages. Under this topic Dr. Sharma gave us a lot of new information about various Indian Languages. In the beginning he focused on the original languages of India Aarya Bhasha and Dravida Bhasha. He also discussed on Indo-European Languages. In the later part of the discussion Dr. Sharma made us informed about emergence and importance of Vaidic Bhasha, Sanskrit and Prakrut Bhasha. It was really a scholarly delivered lecture on Indian Languages. After this session we all went for lunch at 12:30 pm. Post lunch session of the day was taken by Dr. Dineshbhai Panchal, Associate Professor in Department of Psychology, Gujarat University. In this session, the topic of the discussion was

Attitudes and Behaviours. As the discussion was on psychology and psychology is a science to study human behavior, the topic was indirectly related with all of us. Dr. Panchal discussed the topic to the point where he started with simple basic question that what attitudes are. He defined attitudes in a very simple way. In the later part of the session Dr. Panchal focused on the different functions of attitude. It was also one of the scholarly delivered sessions of the 70th Orientation Programme. In the fourth and the last session of the day we had a library session in our schedule. All the participants went to the library to read different books and journals. At the end the day was over. We enjoyed the day since there were scholar speakers like Dr. Shukla, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Panchal. Yours truly
