Harvard Graduate Consulting Club Mini-MBA 2011

Course Syllabus Description: The Mini-MBA Program* is a 10-week business course designed to give an introductory overview of the material MBA students encounter in the first year of business school. The curriculum is based on The 10-Day MBA, by Steven Silbiger, with each course module corresponding to one chapter of the book. However, though The 10-Day MBA is a central learning tool in the course, we aim to provide participants with an experience they could not achieve with the book alone. We therefore invite top industry professionals and business school professors to lead case discussions or deliver lectures at each of our weekly meetings. This gives students the opportunity to engage with complex business problems and learn from real-world scenarios under the guidance of some of the worlds top business thinkers.
*This course is not an accredited degree program, nor is it affiliated with Harvard Business School or the MIT Sloan School of Management. All lecturers are volunteers and in teaching for this course do not act in the official capacity of any academic appointment they may possess.

Format: The course will meet once per week for two hours. Meetings will typically have the following structure: Chapter review (15-20 minutes) A focused discussion of some of the core concepts in the assigned reading. Featured lecture (60-75 minutes) A case discussion or an original lecture from an invited speaker Section (30-45 minutes) Students break up into groups of 15-20 for problem solving or discussion activities.
